49ers 26, Eagles 21: Frank Gore racked up 174 total yards, including a receiving touchdown, as host San Francisco held on to hand Philadelphia its first loss.

Gore carried 24 times for a season-high 119 yards and also caught one ball for 55 yards as the 49ers (2-2) rallied from an 11-point, second-quarter deficit to win thanks to a couple of key stops late in the fourth quarter. The Eagles (3-1) came up empty on two plays from the 1 with a chance to go ahead with under two minutes left and, after a San Francisco punt, the Philadelphia offense was bottled up before quarterback Nick Foles was intercepted on fourth-and-24.

Foles only threw for 195 yards on 21-of-43 passing with no touchdowns and two interceptions and LeSean McCoy struggled to 17 yards on 10 carries for Philadelphia, which did not cross midfield on offense until less than five minutes remained in the game. Colin Kaepernick passed for 218 yards and two TDs with one pick for the 49ers, who ran 30 plays in opposing territory before the Eagles ran one and finished with dominant advantages in total yards (407-213) and time of possession (42:17 to 17:43).

Philadelphia was held to 99 first-half yards but led 21-13 at intermission thanks to a blocked punt in the end zone that Brad Smith fell on for a touchdown, a 53-yard interception return for a score by Malcolm Jenkins and an 82-yard punt return by Darren Sproles. The 49ers' lone first-half touchdown was an acrobatic cross-field pass from Kaepernick to Gore, who shed one tackle on his way to the end zone.

San Francisco's comeback began with a 51-yard field goal by Phil Dawson with 59 seconds left in the first half and continued when Philadelphia's Zach Ertz fumbled and Kaepernick made him pay by finding Stevie Johnson for a terrific tip-toe catch in the end zone from 12 yards out. Dawson booted field goals from 46 and 31 yards to push the advantage to 26-21 with 6:35 to go in the fourth before the Eagles drove down the field until stalling near the goal line.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The blocked punt for a touchdown was the first for the Eagles since 1992 and the first the 49ers had allowed since 1990. ... San Francisco WR Michael Crabtree left with a foot injury in the first quarter, but returned to the game, as did OT Joe Staley after injuring his leg in the third quarter. On the other hand, 49ers OT Anthony Davis (knee - first quarter) and TE Vernon Davis (back - third quarter) did not return. ... The teams combined for 20 penalties for 150 yards.
