Fred Jackson scored two touchdowns as the Buffalo Bills held on for their first win Sunday with a 14-12 triumph over Detroit, handing the Lions an NFL-record 25th straight road loss.

Jackson carried 25 times for 133 yards, including a 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter that opened the scoring. He also caught a 16-yard pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick early in the third quarter that put the Bills up 14-3.

Buffalo (1-8) couldn’t put the Lions away, however. Shaun Hill hit Calvin Johnson for a 20-yard touchdown with 15 seconds left to pull Detroit within 14-12.

But the ensuing two-point conversion failed as Hill was pressured and forced to loft a ball out of the reach of tight end Brandon Pettigrew.

It was a huge stand for the Bills, who had lost their last three games by a combined nine points.

Coincidentally, they earned their first victory against the Lions (2-7), who became the first NFL team to go 0-16 two seasons ago.

The Lions have grown accustomed to setting dubious records. Detroit has now lost 25 straight road games, eclipsing its own previous mark of 24 set from Sept. 9, 2001 to Dec. 21, 2003.

Hill, playing for the injured Matthew Stafford, finished 29 of 50 for 323 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Johnson caught 10 passes for 128 yards for Detroit, which hasn’t won on the road since beating the Bears in October 2007.
