Kevin Kolb threw for 253 yards and a touchdown and the Philadelphia Eagles held off a late comeback in a 27-24 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night.

LeSean McCoy ran for 92 yards and a touchdown despite playing with a cracked rib as the Eagles (3-2) kept the 49ers (0-5) winless on the season.

Alex Smith threw for three touchdowns and 309 yards but was also intercepted twice as San Francisco committed five turnovers. Trevard Lindley picked off Smith with 28 seconds to go to wrap up the victory.

Kolb, making his fourth career start, finished 21 of 31 and threw an 8-yard scoring pass to tight end Brent Celek in subbing for an injured Michael Vick.

The Eagles had seemingly taken control of the game when Quintin Mikell scooped up a fumble by Smith and returned it 52 yards for a touchdown and a 24-10 lead with 13:26 to play.

Smith brought the 49ers back, directing a pair of scoring drives sandwiched around a 46-yard field goal by David Akers to pull the Niners within 27-24 with 2:02 left. Smith threw a 7-yard scoring pass to tight end Vernon Davis and a 1-yard flip to Frank Gore.

Michael Crabtree had nine receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown for San Francisco.
