TRAIL BLAZERS 101, NETS 88: LaMarcus Aldridge had 24 points and nine rebounds and Nicolas Batum added 20 points and 10 rebounds as host Portland downed New Jersey.
J.J. Hickson had 18 points and eight rebounds and Raymond Felton had 14 points, eight rebounds and nine assists as the Trail Blazers closed the game with a 19-3 run.
Kris Humphries had 21 points and 11 rebounds while Gerald Green and Anthony Morrow tallied 20 points apiece for New Jersey, which was without point guard Deron Williams due to a stomach virus.
Portland trailed 85-82 before clamping down on defense and not allowing a field goal over the final 6:50.
Hickson’s basket gave the Trail Blazers an 86-85 lead with 5:16 remaining and Batum scored eight points in Portland’s game-ending flurry.
The Nets trailed by 12 points after three quarters before opening the final quarter with a 19-4 run. Green’s three-point play capped the surge and gave New Jersey an 83-80 lead with 7:32 remaining. Green hit another shot to give the Nets an 85-82 lead before New Jersey missed its final nine field-goal attempts.
The Nets were just 6 of 17 from the field in the final quarter and shot 37.2 percent overall.
Portland led 46-44 at halftime and opened up a 16-point lead just past the midway point of the third quarter. Aldridge had eight points during a 12-0 run that saw the Trail Blazers take a 64-48 lead.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Portland connected on 12 of 24 3-point attempts with Batum sinking four. … The double-double was the 24th of the campaign for Humphries. … Aldridge has scored 20 or more points in each of his last five games. … Nets guard Jordan Farmar (groin) missed his sixth consecutive contest.
