The Los Angeles Lakers set a record for fewest points allowed in Staples Center and handed the Cleveland Cavaliers their worst loss in franchise history, a 112-57 beating Tuesday.

Cleveland’s previous worst loss was a 141-87 defeat at Philadelphia on Nov. 2, 1970 – its first year in the NBA. The Cavaliers have lost 21 of their last 22 games.

The Lakers' previous best defensive effort at Staples Center - which opened in 1999 - was 66.

Andrew Bynum and Ron Artest led seven Lakers in double figures with 15 points apiece. Pau Gasol had 13 points and 14 rebounds, Kobe Bryant scored 13 points in 24 minutes, and Lamar Odom and Shannon Brown also scored 13 points apiece.

The Lakers allowed just 12 points in the first quarter and it never got any better for the Cavs, who trailed 57-25 at halftime, 92-41 after three quarters and were still being doubled on the scoreboard with as little as 1:10 to play.

Alonzo Gee scored 12 points and Ramon Sessions had 10 as the only players in double figures for the Cavs, who shot 30 percent (23-of-77) from the field.
