Preview Roundups
October 30, 2019
Tampa Bay at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
Jack Hughes is beginning to show why he was the first overall pick in this year’s draft and will try to keep his hot streak going when the New Jersey Devils host the injury-hampered Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday. The 18-year-old Hughes failed to record a point in his first six NHL games but has scored a pair of goals and set up three others over his last three contests for the Devils, whose bid for a three-game winning streak ended with Friday's 5-3 loss to Arizona.
Edmonton at Columbus 7:30 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets had their point streak halted at six games (4-0-2) last time out but hope to begin a new one when they host the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday. Columbus owned a two-goal lead midway through the third period on Saturday before surrendering five consecutive tallies en route to a 7-4 setback in Philadelphia.
Minnesota at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues' long haul without Vladimir Tarasenko continues on Wednesday, when they host the shell-shocked Minnesota Wild. Tarasenko, who has scored at least 33 goals each of the last five seasons, underwent shoulder surgery on Tuesday and will be re-evaluated in five months.
Montreal at Arizona 10:00 PM ET
After coming within four points of reaching the playoffs last season, the Arizona Coyotes look poised to take the next step in their bid to end a postseason drought dating to the 2011-12 campaign. The Coyotes passed another early-season test with a successful four-game road trip and have won six of seven entering Wednesday night's matchup against the visiting Montreal Canadiens.
Florida at Colorado 10:00 PM ET
The Colorado Avalanche turned in a rare clunker last time out but they have more pressing concerns than simply trying to rebound from their first home defeat of the season. The Central Division-leading Avalanche will be without two-thirds of their vaunted No. 1 line when they host the Florida Panthers on Wednesday night in the second of a three-game homestand.
Vancouver at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
The Vancouver Canucks scored at least five goals for the third consecutive contest in their last outing, and they needed just a shade over 19 minutes to do so. The Canucks aim to continue their high-scoring ways heading into Wednesday's opener of a three-game trek against the Los Angeles Kings, who have surrendered five goals in each of their last three contests.
