Preview Roundups
October 26, 2019
Chicago at Carolina 1:00 PM ET
The Carolina Hurricanes have fizzled following a sizzling start to the season and will look to get back on track following a rocky road trip. Winners of five straight and six of seven to open the season, the Hurricanes dropped the final three of a four-game road trip and look to rebound when the slumping Chicago Blackhawks pay a visit on Saturday afternoon.
St. Louis at Boston 7:00 PM ET
Forgive the Boston Bruins if they cannot erase the memory of the last visit by St. Louis to TD Garden, which ended with the Blues hoisting the Stanley Cup for the first time in 39 years. The Bruins have earned points in five consecutive games as they prepare to face visiting St. Louis on Saturday night for the first time since dropping a winner-takes-all Game 7 in June.
Toronto at Montreal 7:00 PM ET
The Toronto Maple Leafs hope to string together dominant performances on back-to-back nights when they visit the rival Montreal Canadiens on Saturday for an Atlantic Division battle. The Maple Leafs had recorded one win in four games before limiting San Jose, which played 24 hours earlier, to 16 shots on Friday as defenseman Morgan Rielly snapped a tie with 5:29 remaining in the third period en route to a 4-1 victory.
Nashville at Tampa Bay 7:00 PM ET
The Nashville Predators have shown some improvement on the defensive end of the ice the last two games and look to continue that when they visit the offensively gifted Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night. The Predators permitted 30 goals in the first eight games of the season, but have allowed one combined while knocking off Anaheim and Minnesota in the past two contests.
Columbus at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets answered a pair of lopsided losses by keeping their fans on the edge of their seats with eight straight one-goal decisions (5-1-2). Fresh off playing four consecutive overtime contests, the Blue Jackets carry a six-game point streak (4-0-2) into Saturday night's tilt against the host Philadelphia Flyers.
Pittsburgh at Dallas 8:00 PM ET
The Dallas Stars are finally finding their footing after a wretched start to the season in which they dropped eight of their first nine games. The resurgent Stars have ripped off three consecutive victories since their last defeat, a loss they will have a chance to avenge when they host the slumping Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night.
Los Angeles at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild have endured a virtual house of horrors on the road this season, losing six of seven away from Xcel Energy Center to plummet into a share of the cellar in the Central Division. With six of their next eight contests away from home, the Wild hope to take advantage of a rare helping of home cooking on Saturday against the Los Angeles Kings.
Anaheim at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche are off to another strong start this season and hope to continue rolling when they begin a three-game homestand Saturday against the sputtering Anaheim Ducks. MacKinnon extended his season-opening point streak to a team-record 10 games with a pair of assists Friday as Colorado completed a 4-1-1 road trip with a 6-1 triumph in Vegas.
Calgary at Winnipeg 10:00 PM ET
The Calgary Flames continue to seek consistency as they head to Regina, Saskatchewan, for Saturday’s NHL Heritage Classic against the Winnipeg Jets, but do so after finding a way to outlast Florida 6-5 on Thursday. The Flames scored twice in the first 5:16 of the third period to take a two-goal lead, gave up three goals, forced overtime on Sam Bennett’s score with 2:43 to play and won in a shootout on Sean Monahan’s tally.
