After blowing another big lead to remain winless through six games, the Devils will look to avoid their worst start in six years against a familiar rival when the New York Rangers pay a visit to the Prudential Center on Thursday night.

St. Louis Blues forward Brayden Schenn wasted little time paying significant dividends on the eight-year, $52 million contract he signed earlier this month. Schenn carries a five-game goal-scoring streak into the Blues' opener of a four-game homestand versus the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.

After allowing five goals in back-to-back losses last week, the New York Islanders have found their footing entering Thursday’s contest at the Winnipeg Jets. The Islanders posted a 3-2 shootout victory Saturday over Florida before some late-game heroics led to a 3-2 overtime triumph Monday over St. Louis, as Brock Nelson scored with 5:31 left in regulation, Mathew Barzal evened the score with 27 seconds to go and Devon Toews scored the winner 1:13 in overtime.
Detroit at Calgary 9:00 PM ET
The Calgary Flames enjoyed good fortune at home in 2018-19, and the early returns this season are projecting for more of the same. The Flames aim to continue their success at Scotiabank Saddledome on Thursday when they conclude a two-game stretch against the Detroit Red Wings.

The Nashville Predators have been an offensive juggernaut during the early part of the season, averaging a league-high 4.67 goals per contest, but they could be without one of their most dangerous players in the finale of a three-game road trip. Forward Filip Forsberg has been listed as a game-time decision for Nashville's matchup at the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday night.

Vegas Golden Knights forward Mark Stone has made himself at home in Sin City, however, the two-way forward will see a familiar team pay a visit on Thursday when the Ottawa Senators come calling to T-Mobile Arena. Vegas won the bidding war in February for Stone, who then cashed in on an eight-year contract extension that carries an average annual value of $9.5 million.
Buffalo at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
The Buffalo Sabres' season-opening point streak came to an end in the opener of their California road trip, but they hope to begin a new run when they visit the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday. Buffalo earned at least one point in each of its first six contests (5-0-1) before dropping a 5-2 decision Wednesday in Anaheim.
