The Carolina Hurricanes have roared out of the gate with a pair of comeback victories that ended after regulation and go after their third straight to start the season when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday. The Hurricanes scored twice in the third period at Washington on Saturday to forge a tie before defenseman Jake Gardiner tallied in overtime for a 3-2 victory.
Dallas at Detroit 7:00 PM ET
The Dallas Stars continue the search for their first victory of the season when they visit the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday. Dallas has dropped a pair of one-goal decisions to start 2019-20, including Saturday's 3-2 setback at St. Louis in which it squandered a third-period lead.
Winnipeg at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders were pleased with their effort Friday despite a 2-1 opening-night loss to Washington and feel there are plenty of positives to take into Sunday’s home game against the Winnipeg Jets. New goaltender Semyon Varlamov was solid in stopping 26 of 28 shots, defenseman Devon Toews opened his second NHL season with the Islanders goal, and New York committed just two penalties on the night - although one resulted in a Washington power-play tally.
