The sputtering Pittsburgh Penguins hope to put a halt to their first six-game regulation losing streak in eight years when they host the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday. The Penguins have been outscored by a 24-8 margin during a skid that is bookended by a pair of shutout losses.

The Boston Bruins have fully recovered from their swoon in December to solidify the lead in the Atlantic Division and can give themselves more cushion when they visit the second-place Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night. The Bruins are 17-5-1 since Jan. 7 and lead the Lightning by seven points in the division after blanking the New York Islanders 4-0 on Saturday with seven points from their defensemen.

The Nashville Predators must quickly put a devastating loss behind them when they visit the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday in a key Western Conference game. Nashville and Edmonton were tied entering the third period Monday before the Oilers exploded for five goals in a 5:13 span to prevail 8-3, leaving the Predators in a three-way tie for the final wild-card spot and one point ahead of Minnesota.

The road has been a difficult place this season for the Buffalo Sabres, who look to salvage something from a four-game trip Tuesday against the Winnipeg Jets. The Sabres have been outscored 12-6 and are 0-for-5 on the power play in dropping the first three games of their road swing, seeing an early 2-0 lead Saturday at Arizona disintegrate with five unanswered goals in a 5-2 defeat that dropped Buffalo to 10-18-4 away from home.

The Chicago Blackhawks salvaged what could have been a disastrous four-game road trip with back-to-back victories to maintain a pulse in their bid to snag a playoff berth. Seeking to win three in a row for the first time since before the All-Star break, the Blackhawks enter a favorable portion of the schedule in Tuesday's home game versus the Anaheim Ducks.

The Dallas Stars look to make a move in the Central Division with five of the first six games this month on home ice, starting with a visit from the offensively gifted Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. The Toronto Maple Leafs aim to extend a pair of streaks on Tuesday when they begin a trek through California against the San Jose Sharks. The Maple Leafs, who have won four in a row against the Sharks, have erupted for 13 goals during their current three-game winning streak.
