Preview Roundups
February 26, 2019
San Jose at Boston 7:00 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks and Boston Bruins are each sitting in second place in their respective divisions, but both clubs made a move to add some offensive punch prior to Monday's trade deadline. The Sharks acquired Gustav Nyquist from Detroit and the Bruins made a deal with New Jersey for Marcus Johansson in advance of their matchup Tuesday night at Boston's TD Garden.
Calgary at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The division-leading Calgary Flames and New York Islanders elected to remain relatively quiet in the face of the considerable noise surrounding the NHL trade deadline. The Flames look to remain hot as they vie for their sixth straight win on Tuesday against the New York Islanders, who return from a trek through Western Canada to begin a five-game homestand.
Buffalo at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
Two teams hoping to remain in the playoff race in the Eastern Conference face off Tuesday when the Buffalo Sabres visit the Philadelphia Flyers. Buffalo is six points behind Carolina for the second wild-card spot while Philadelphia trails the Hurricanes by seven and Columbus by eight for third place in the Metropolitan Division.
Ottawa at Washington 7:00 PM ET
Their roster purge complete, the Ottawa Senators are left to pick up the pieces after trading away all three of their top-scoring forwards over the past week. The final domino fell just prior to Monday's trade deadline for the last-place Senators, who will take a four-game losing streak into Tuesday night's road game against the Washington Capitals.
Los Angeles at Carolina 7:00 PM ET
The Carolina Hurricanes continue to push for their first playoff berth in 10 seasons when they host the struggling Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. Carolina is tied with Pittsburgh for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference - six points ahead of 10th-place Buffalo - after Saturday's 3-0 victory over Dallas improved its record to 9-3-0 since the All-Star break.
Pittsburgh at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets made quite the splash prior to the NHL trade deadline, following up the acquisitions of Matt Duchene and former Ohio State star Ryan Dzingel from Ottawa by adding defenseman Adam McQuaid and goaltender Keith Kinkaid. The new-look Blue Jackets bid to strengthen their hold on third place in the Metropolitan Division on Tuesday when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Montreal at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
The road has not been kind to the Montreal Canadiens of late as they have lost all five of their games away from home in February. Montreal hopes to post a road win in its final contest of the month as it continues its four-game trek Tuesday against the Detroit Red Wings.
Nashville at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues will try to continue their recent mastery over Nashville when they host the Predators on Tuesday in a key Central Division matchup. St. Louis has won three straight in the series, including 3-2 on Feb. 9 and 5-4 in overtime on Feb. 10 to snap a six-game slide in Nashville, and has ridden a 12-1-1 run into third place in the Central - seven points behind the first-place Predators.
Minnesota at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
The Winnipeg Jets have made a significant attempt to refuel their sputtering offense by acquiring former 25-goal scorer Kevin Hayes prior to the NHL trade deadline. The 6-foot-5 Hayes will have a chance to alter Winnipeg's recent fortunes on Tuesday when it hosts the Minnesota Wild, who have answered a disastrous 1-6-3 stretch by winning three straight games.
Florida at Arizona 9:00 PM ET
The Arizona Coyotes have not been a strong team at Gila River Arena most of the season, but they got off to a solid start on their season-high seven-game homestand and look to add another victory when they host the Florida Panthers on Tuesday. The Coyotes, who are three points out of the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference despite owning a 12-14-3 record at home, opened their run of games in Arizona with a 4-1 victory over Winnipeg on Sunday.
Dallas at Vegas 10:00 PM ET
The Vegas Golden Knights expected to have a tough time matching the stunning run to the Stanley Cup Final in their inaugural season, but they showed at Monday's trade deadline that they are not content to take a step back. Vegas made a blockbuster trade to acquire Mark Stone, who could make his debut when the Golden Knights host the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night.
