Preview Roundups
January 30, 2018
Anaheim at Boston 7:00 PM ET
The red-hot Boston Bruins attempt to make more history without two of their key performers in the lineup Tuesday night when they host the surging Anaheim Ducks, who have won eight straight in the series. The Bruins have earned at least a point in 18 straight games (14-0-4), tied for second-longest streak in franchise history with the 1968-69 team and five away from the club record set in 1940-41.
New Jersey at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
Even though they own the worst record in the Eastern Conference, the All-Star break couldn't have come at a worse time for the Buffalo Sabres, interrupting their best stretch of an otherwise abysmal season. Riding a season-high three-game winning streak, the Sabres look to continue their roll when they host the skidding New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night.
Florida at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders steadied their ship with a strong road trip before the All-Star break and now hope to put together run on home ice, starting with a visit from the stumbling Florida Panthers on Tuesday night. The Islanders, who are currently one point out of playoff position in the Eastern Conference, completed a 2-0-1 trek with a 2-1 victory at Western Conference-leading Vegas on Thursday and play seven of the next nine games at home, where they are 1-4-0 in January.
San Jose at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins have been picking up steam in January to serve notice throughout the NHL that the two-time reigning Stanley Cup champions aren't going away quietly. Crosby and the Penguins look to pick up where they left off as they return from the All-Star break to host the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday.
Ottawa at Carolina 7:00 PM ET
The Carolina Hurricanes are buried in last place in the Metropolitan Division, but remain well within striking distance of a postseason slot. The same cannot be said for the Ottawa Senators, who are a distant seventh in the Atlantic and riding a five-game losing streak as they return from the All-Star break to visit the Hurricanes on Tuesday night.
Minnesota at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild have struggled mightily on the road, a bad sign to be certain with visits to some of the NHL's tougher customers lining their upcoming schedule. The Wild look to make themselves at home on the road Tuesday when they return from All-Star break with a date against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Montreal at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The Montreal Canadiens have a lot of work to do in order to avoid missing the playoffs for the second time in three seasons. They begin that quest Tuesday, when they return from the All-Star break to visit the St. Louis Blues.
Chicago at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks find themselves in an unfamiliar position as they continue their four-game road trip Tuesday against the Central Division-rival Nashville Predators. Chicago is 13 points out of first place in the Central after winning the division last season and four back in the Western Conference wild-card race after qualifying for the playoffs each of the last nine campaigns - winning three Stanley Cups along the way.
Tampa Bay at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning rebounded from a rough stretch with three straight road victories before the All-Star break and look to continue their surge Tuesday when they begin another four-game trek against the Central Division-leading Winnipeg Jets. The league-best Lightning surrendered 18 goals in a four-game period to end a 2-4-1 swoon before limiting their last three opponents to four combined.
Los Angeles at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
Alexander Radulov has paid significant dividends since signing a five-year, $31.25 million contract in the offseason with the Dallas Stars. The 31-year-old Russian forward carries a career high-tying nine-game point streak into Tuesday's tilt as the Stars return from the NHL All-Star break to host the Los Angeles Kings.
Vegas at Calgary 9:00 PM ET
The expansion Vegas Golden Knights have aced every test thus far in their inaugural season, carrying the best record in the Western Conference into the All-Star break. Another major hurdle awaits the Golden Knights, who visit the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night in the opener of a six-game road trip that features matchups against two division leaders.
Colorado at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
It looks like Nathan MacKinnon's mind has caught up to his body as the All-Star and Hart Trophy candidate hopes to keep the Colorado Avalanche in Stanley Cup playoff position when they visit the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday. MacKinnon told reporters that he thinks "it’s a lot of mental (focus)'' that has helped him accumulate 24 goals and 60 points this season - second only to Tampa Bay's Nikita Kucherov - while making Colorado relevant again.
