Preview Roundups
January 29, 2020
Toronto at Dallas 7:30 PM ET
The Dallas Stars pride themselves on their tenacious defense while the Toronto Maple Leafs haven't been shy about pumping in goals this season. The Stars will put their NHL-best 2.45 goals-against average per game on the line Wednesday when they host the Maple Leafs, who boast a league-high 3.76 goals per contest on the road this season.
Nashville at Washington 7:30 PM ET
The All-Star break did little to alleviate the struggles of the Nashville Predators, who face the daunting task of attempting to snap out of their funk against the league's top team. Superstar captain Alex Ovechkin will return from a one-game suspension when the Capitals go for their fifth straight win Wednesday night against the visiting Predators.
Arizona at Anaheim 10:00 PM ET
Few teams needed to get away from the ice for an extended period more than the Arizona Coyotes, who skidded into the All-Star break with five losses in their last six games. Despite the tailspin, Arizona is only three points out of first place in the tightly bunched Pacific Division entering Wednesday night's game at the Anaheim Ducks.
Tampa Bay at Los Angeles 10:00 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning managed to gain a point despite some old habits creeping back into their game last time out, and seek a better performance when they begin a tour of California on Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Kings. The Lightning improved to 12-2-1 with a 3-2 overtime loss at Dallas on Monday after the All-Star break, but struggled with turnovers and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
Calgary at Edmonton 10:00 PM ET
The season’s highly anticipated third installment of the battle of Alberta will take place in Edmonton on Wednesday when the Oilers host the Calgary Flames. Adding intrigue to the matchup will be the return of Edmonton forward Zack Kassian, who served a two-game suspension after retaliating for what he felt were questionable hits from Calgary forward Matthew Tkachuk during a 4-3 Flames victory Jan. 11.
Vancouver at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
The Vancouver Canucks have won nine in a row at home and 12 of their last 15 overall to secure sole possession of first place in the top-heavy Pacific Division. The Canucks will take their show on the road Wednesday when they open a five-game trek against the San Jose Sharks.
