Preview Roundups
January 11, 2020
Vancouver at Buffalo 1:00 PM ET
The Vancouver Canucks enjoyed a little warmer weather, but virtually nothing else during their few days in the Sunshine State while coughing up 14 goals in a pair of lopsided losses that followed a promising seven-game win streak. The Canucks look to get back on track in the northern portion of their five-game road trip when they visit the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday afternoon.
Montreal at Ottawa 7:00 PM ET
The league-mandated three days off around Christmas did no favors for either the Montreal Canadiens or Ottawa Senators, who have yet to win since returning from the break. The Canadiens are mired in an eight-game losing streak -- matching their season high -- while the Senators have dropped six straight entering Saturday's matchup in Ottawa.
Boston at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders have struggled against the Boston Bruins over the past few seasons, finally ending a seven-game losing streak in the series with a 3-2 shootout road win on Dec. 19. The Islanders will attempt to halt an even longer slide when they host Boston on Saturday night, having dropped eight in a row and 11 of 12 at home to the Bruins.
Tampa Bay at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
The red-hot Tampa Bay Lightning attempt to match the longest winning streak in franchise history and equal the longest in the league this season when they visit the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday night. The Lightning have outscored opponents 42-17, including 12-2 in the third period, during their nine-game run and earned the first shutout of the season Thursday with a 4-0 triumph over Pacific Division-leading Arizona at home.
New Jersey at Washington 7:00 PM ET
The Washington Capitals have lost half of their last eight games and have seen their lead for the best record in the league clipped to two points over the Boston Bruins. After having a three-game winning streak snapped, the Capitals look to get back on track when they open a three-game homestand against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night.
Los Angeles at Carolina 7:00 PM ET
The Carolina Hurricanes attempt to complete a monster seven-game homestand with five victories when they go for a season sweep of the visiting Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night. Petr Mrazek, who blanked the Kings in the Golden State 2-0 on October 15, turned aside 32 shots for his third shutout of the season Friday as the Hurricanes knocked off Arizona 3-0 while getting a point from nine different players.
NY Rangers at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues bid to record the NHL's longest home winning streak of the season on Saturday when they look for their eighth straight victory at Enterprise Center against the New York Rangers. St. Louis matched Dallas with seven consecutive wins at home after edging San Jose on Tuesday and toppling Buffalo two nights later.
Anaheim at Chicago 8:30 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks are closer to the bottom of the Western Conference than playoff position after a pair of key home losses and will try to head back in the right direction when they host the struggling Anaheim Ducks on Saturday. Chicago fell to Calgary 2-1 on Tuesday and Nashville 5-2 on Thursday - teams they are chasing in pursuit of the postseason - and has lost three of four after winning five of its previous six games.
Columbus at Vegas 10:00 PM ET
The Vegas Golden Knights began their season-high seven-game homestand with such promise, winning four in a row before a pair of porous starts led to back-to-back defeats. The Golden Knights look to give their fans a better show on Saturday when they conclude their stretch against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Edmonton at Calgary 10:00 PM ET
The Edmonton Oilers capped a brutal 10-game stretch (2-7-1) with a dismal performance against the Calgary Flames in the season's first installment of the Battle of Alberta. The Oilers have since rebounded and carry a five-game point streak (4-0-1) into the finale of a five-game road trip against their bitter provincial rivals in Calgary.
Dallas at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
A six-game winning streak has vaulted the Dallas Stars into second place in the rugged Central Division as they continue their road trip Saturday against the San Jose Sharks. Dallas, which sits seven points behind defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis, defeated Anaheim 3-0 on Thursday behind 27 saves and an assist from Ben Bishop, and has allowed two or fewer goals in every game during its run.
