Preview Roundups
November 14, 2018
Michigan at Villanova 6:30 PM ET
Villanova and Michigan are ready for their national championship rematch, but most of the familiar faces from that April showdown have moved on to the professional ranks. Still, there will be excitement in the air when the eighth-ranked Wildcats host the 18th-ranked Wolverines on Wednesday as part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games.
Louisiana Monroe at Michigan St 7:00 PM ET
Michigan State looks to win its second straight at home when it hosts non-conference foe Louisiana Monroe on Wednesday night. The No. 10 Spartans got their first win of the season Sunday, routing Florida Gulf Coast 106-82, while the Warhawks are coming off their first loss of the campaign, 65-55 at Texas on Monday.
La Salle at Florida 7:00 PM ET
Florida didn't get the 2018-19 season off to the start it expected after opening with a loss to rival Florida State, but the Gators rebounded to put away Charleston Southern 76-46 on Friday. Next up on Wednesday is a visit from a La Salle team still looking for its first win for new coach Ashley Howard after a tough 77-76 loss in its home opener against Lafayette on Saturday.
Indiana - Purdue at Boston College 7:00 PM ET
Boston College has flirted with upset losses at home before surviving its first two contests, and hopes to avoid needing any late runs when it hosts IUPUI on Wednesday. The Eagles trailed in the second half in their opener to Milwaukee before storming to a 20-point victory and then they eked out a 74-69 win over St. Francis Brooklyn on Sunday.
Sam Houston St. at Clemson 7:00 PM ET

No. 23 Clemson has cruised to 20-point wins in each of its first two games and will try to keep it rolling when it hosts Sam Houston State on Wednesday as part of the Cayman Island Classic. The Tigers have won 17 of their last 18 home contests dating to the start of last season.

Eastern Michigan at Duke 7:00 PM ET
Duke stepped on the big stage in its season opener and shined with 118 points against Kentucky before the young Blue Devils were challenged by a hungry Army team that pushed them to find more answers. Third-ranked Duke absorbed those lessons and will look to add more knowledge when it hosts unbeaten Eastern Michigan in a non-conference battle Wednesday night.
Radford at Notre Dame 7:00 PM ET
There has been a lot of talk about Notre Dame’s exciting freshmen but it was a senior reserve who shined in its latest victory, as Elijah Burns scored a career-high 15 off the bench in the 89-62 win over Chicago State. The Fighting Irish will look to make it three wins in a row to open the season as they welcome Radford on Wednesday evening as part of the Gotham Classic.
Seton Hall at Nebraska 7:30 PM ET
After some early season blowouts, No. 25 Nebraska and visiting Seton Hall should finally be tested when they meet Wednesday as part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games. The Cornhuskers have won their two contests by a total of 121 points while the Pirates have a 40-point win to their credit.
Mississippi College at Auburn 8:00 PM ET

Although it might appear to be a mere speedbump on 12th-ranked Auburn’s schedule, coach Bruce Pearl sees value in Wednesday’s matchup with NCAA Division II Mississippi College. It will serve as a tune-up for the Tigers before they head to Hawaii to take on a top-notch field in the Maui Invitational.

Texas-San Antonio at Oklahoma State 8:00 PM ET

Even with eight newcomers, including five freshmen, Oklahoma State coach Mike Boynton couldn’t find much solace after his Cowboys blew a 24-point lead in an opening night loss at Charlotte on Saturday. Oklahoma State will try to take out its frustrations on Texas-San Antonio when the Roadrunners visit Wednesday.

Rice at Houston 8:00 PM ET
Houston will try to match the offensive production from its season opener when the Cougars host in-town rival Rice on Wednesday night. Houston had four starters shoot better than 66 percent on Saturday while the team knocked down 15 of its 30 shots from 3-point range.
Western Carolina at Southern Methodist 8:00 PM ET
SMU will try to get back on track Wednesday night when it hosts winless Western Carolina. The Mustangs had their 33-game non-conference home win streak snapped Sunday with a surprising 74-64 loss to Southern Miss.
Texas-El Paso at Arizona 8:00 PM ET
Arizona lacks the star power of its past teams, but this season's squad appears to have the necessary depth to contend for a Pac-12 title. The Wildcats conclude their season-opening three-game homestand on Wednesday against UTEP, which was picked to finish 11th in the Conference USA preseason poll.
Marquette at Indiana 8:30 PM ET
After throttling Montana State, Indiana faces a more formidable challenge Wednesday night at home against Marquette. The matchup between Big Ten and Big East title contenders is part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games.
North Dakota at Kentucky 9:00 PM ET

After an embarrassing loss on national television to Duke in the opener and stumbling to a 71-59 victory over Southern Illinois, Kentucky coach John Calipari says he’s figured out how to proceed with his underperforming star cast. The second-ranked Wildcats, with four days to practice, will put their coach's tweaks to the test Wednesday when they host North Dakota in the campus portion of Ohio Valley Hardwood Showcase.

Stetson at Southern California 10:00 PM ET
Injury-ravaged USC hosts Stetson on Wednesday as it continues to play without three key performers, including their top returning scorer and rebounder. Sophomore guard Charles O'Bannon Jr. broke his left pinky finger in practice Friday and was to have surgery Tuesday while senior forward Bennie Boatwright (knee), who averaged 13.6 points and 6.4 rebounds last season, and freshman guard Elijah Weaver (ankle) are still recovering from offseason surgeries.
Washington St. at Seattle 10:00 PM ET
Washington State put up almost 90 points in the season opener, but coach Ernie Kent was more excited about the team’s defense as the Cougars prepare to visit state-rival Seattle on Wednesday night. Senior Robert Franks scored 31 points and hauled in 11 rebounds in an 89-72 victory over Nicholls on Sunday as the Cougars limited the visitors to 36.4 percent shooting and forced 19 turnovers.
