Preview Roundups
February 24, 2016
Georgia at Auburn 7:00 PM ET
Georgia opened February with an upset victory over South Carolina, but the Bulldogs’ NCAA Tournament hopes have nosedived recently thanks to losses in three of their past four games. Georgia plays Wednesday at struggling Auburn hoping to reverse a trend of inefficient offense, with the Bulldogs averaging just 58.5 points in their past four contests in dropping into a three-way tie for seventh in the conference standings.
Mississippi St. at Texas A&M 7:00 PM ET
Back in the national rankings this week after an overtime upset of Kentucky, No. 21 Texas A&M will try for its third straight SEC win win it hosts Mississippi State on Wednesday night. The Aggies, who began the week in a three-way tie for second place behind John Calipari's Wildcats, shot a season-low 30.6 percent and had to rally from a nine-point first-half deficit to edge the Bulldogs, 61-60, in their first meeting on Jan. 6 in Starkville.
Houston at Central Florida 7:00 PM ET
Houston's final three games - starting with Wednesday's visit to UCF - will have a big impact on the Cougars' seeding in the American Athletic Conference tournament. The Cougars can clinch a first-round bye with a win Wednesday before facing two teams - Connecticut and Cincinnati - ahead of them in the league standings.
Northwestern at Michigan 7:00 PM ET
Michigan looks to move to the right side of the bubble following back-to-back losses when it hosts Northwestern on Wednesday. The Wolverines were 50-0 when scoring 80 or more points under head coach John Beilein before falling to ninth-ranked Maryland 86-82 and they need at least one more win to avoid missing out on the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year.
Villanova at Xavier 7:00 PM ET
Villanova can clinch its third straight Big East regular-season title Wednesday with a road win against Xavier. On the surface, it won't be easy for the top-ranked Wildcats to defeat the fifth-ranked Musketeers, although the first matchup between the teams indicates otherwise.
East Carolina at Tulane 8:00 PM ET
Tulane hopes it doesn't need an extra 15 minutes to get a victory when it hosts East Carolina on Wednesday in a rematch of a marathon American Athletic Conference contest from two weeks ago. The Green Wave outlasted the Pirates in triple overtime 100-92 on Feb. 10, part of East Carolina's six-game losing streak.
Louisville at Pittsburgh 8:00 PM ET
Although its season will not end with a NCAA Tournament bid, Louisville is in great position to claim its first ACC regular-season title as a result of defeating league-leading North Carolina earlier this month, and pending a successful showdown with second-place Miami (Fla.) this weekend. The Cardinals, who play three of their final four on the road, begin their challenging season-ending stretch Wednesday when they travel to Pittsburgh.
North Carolina at N.C. State 8:00 PM ET
North Carolina can take another step forward in its quest for the ACC regular-season crown when it visits North Carolina State on Wednesday. The sixth-ranked Tar Heels hold a half-game lead in the conference race after a 96-71 win over Miami (Fla.) last Saturday and hope to still be in charge when they visit No. 3 Virginia this weekend.
Marquette at Creighton 8:00 PM ET
One of many teams on the bubble for a berth in the NCAA Tournament, Creighton can begin to distinguish itself from the rest of the field Wednesday in a Big East game against visiting Marquette. The Bluejays saw their three-game win streak snapped in a loss to Butler last week, but if they can win three of their final four regular season games and make a run in the Big East tournament, they could find themselves dancing in March.
Tennessee at South Carolina 9:00 PM ET

South Carolina looks to keep pace in the SEC title race and avoid a hit to its postseason resume when the Gamecocks host Tennessee on Wednesday. South Carolina is one game behind first-place Kentucky, but with only two games separating the top six teams in the SEC, it might need to finish strong to lock up a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

Oklahoma St. at Oklahoma 9:00 PM ET
Fourth-ranked Oklahoma found its top form last time out after a rough stretch and looks to build off that when rival Oklahoma State visits for a Big 12 battle Wednesday night. Buddy Hield scored 29 points as the Sooners won 76-62 at West Virginia on Saturday after dropping three of four to fall out of the top spot in the crowded league race.
Notre Dame at Wake Forest 9:00 PM ET
Notre Dame has not lost consecutive games since the end of the 2013-14 season. Coming off an unexpected defeat over the weekend, the 20th-ranked Fighting Irish will look to extend their streak of bounce-back victories to 13 when they continue a three-game road trip at Wake Forest on Wednesday.
Wisconsin at Iowa 9:00 PM ET
The grueling Big Ten road schedule could be wearing on Iowa, which fell from the first-place perch it had held atop the conference standings all season long prior to its third loss in its last four away contests. The eighth-ranked Hawkeyes have encountered no such issues at home, however, and look to remain perfect at Carver-Hawkeye Arena this season Wednesday when they host Wisconsin.
Arizona at Colorado 9:00 PM ET

Red-hot Arizona has its sights set on a third-straight Pac-12 Conference regular-season title. To help in that cause, the 10th-ranked Wildcats are coming off some late-season rest as they’ll have had a full week between games when they visit Colorado on Wednesday night.

Washington St. at Oregon 10:00 PM ET
Oregon can break the program record for consecutive home victories and hold onto at least a share of first place in the Pac-12 Conference when the No. 13 Ducks face Washington State on Wednesday night. Oregon has won 23 straight games at Matthew Knight Arena and entered the week deadlocked with No. 10 Arizona for first place with four games left, though the Ducks own the tiebreaker by virtue of their win last month against the Wildcats, which broke their nation-leading 49-game home-winning strea
Washington at Oregon St. 11:00 PM ET
The winner of Wednesday night's game between visiting Washington and Oregon State will put themselves in good shape to make a late push and possibly crack the final four in the Pac-12 standings. Both came into the week in a knot of teams sitting from fourth to 10th place, all within three games of each other.
