Preview Roundups
January 02, 2019
Nebraska at Maryland 6:30 PM ET
No. 23 Nebraska looks to start off the new year where it left off when it visits Maryland when Big Ten play resumes on Wednesday. The Cornhuskers routed Division II Southwest Minnesota State 79-38 to extend their home winning streak to 19 games, which is the longest active streak among Power 5 teams, while improving to 11-2 for the first time since 2010-11.
Seton Hall at Xavier 6:30 PM ET
Seton Hall rolled into Big East play and then triumphed in its conference opener in dramatic fashion. The surging Pirates will try to stay hot and take the early lead in the league standings when they visit the conference's defending regular-season champion in Xavier on Wednesday.
Tulane at Cincinnati 6:30 PM ET
Cincinnati has earned 11 victories in the first 13 games this season after losing three of its top four scorers and looks to start the American Athletic Conference slate on the right foot when it hosts struggling Tulane on Wednesday night. The Bearcats lost to only Ohio State and Mississippi State through the first two months and go into conference play with two straight wins, including a rout of UCLA.
Cornell at Wake Forest 7:00 PM ET
Wake Forest tries to turn around what has so far been a disappointing season as it hosts Cornell in its final non-conference game on Wednesday evening. The Demon Deacons are coming off a home loss to Gardner-Webb on Saturday and have now lost two home games to non-power conference opponents in 2018-19.
Harvard at North Carolina 7:00 PM ET

No. 15 North Carolina plays its final tune-up before beginning the ACC grind when it hosts Harvard on Wednesday. The Tar Heels have lost three of their last seven games but are undefeated at home.

Temple at Central Florida 7:00 PM ET
Temple and Central Florida both enjoyed a successful non-conference portion of their schedule. Each team opens up American Athletic Conference play Wednesday when the Owls visit the Knights.
Texas Tech at West Virginia 7:00 PM ET
Non-conference play couldn't have gone any different for West Virginia and Texas Tech, as the Mountaineers opened the season ranked No. 13 and quickly fell out while the Red Raiders entered unranked before opening the season 11-1 (only loss was to No. 1 Duke) and soaring to No. 11 in the rankings. However, both coaches know the slates have been wiped clean for the Big 12 opener Wednesday as the Mountaineers try to improve to 7-0 at home against the Red Raiders.
Georgetown at Butler 7:00 PM ET
The Georgetown freshmen will get their first taste of Big East action when they lead the Hoyas into action Wednesday at Butler. The trio of Mac McClung, James Akinjo and Josh LeBlanc have exceeded expectations, but the Hoyas have not fared well against teams of the caliber of the Bulldogs.
South Carolina Upstate at Georgia Tech 7:30 PM ET
Georgia Tech knows the schedule is about to get more difficult with ACC play beginning this weekend, so there is plenty of focus on maintaining momentum entering Wednesday’s home contest against South Carolina Upstate. The Yellow Jackets have experienced an up-and-down ride through non-conference play, but in Friday’s 87-57 rout of Kennesaw State displayed the balanced offense and strong defense needed to win against league foes.
Tulsa at Houston 8:00 PM ET
A couple of tough defenses will collide Wednesday when Tulsa visits No. 17 Houston in the American Athletic Conference opener. The Golden Hurricane will put their five-game win streak on the line against the undefeated Cougars' 26-game home winning streak.
East Carolina at Southern Methodist 8:00 PM ET
SMU finished the non-league portion of its schedule with six wins in the last seven games and looks to carry that momentum into American Athletic Conference play when it hosts East Carolina on Wednesday night. The Mustangs suffered their only loss during the run against in-state rival TCU and come into the first league matchup off a dominant 81-53 victory over Cornell on Dec. 22.
Connecticut at South Florida 8:30 PM ET
Not much was expected from South Florida, which was picked to finish last in the American Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll. However, as the Bulls prepare to host Connecticut in Wednesday night's conference opener in Tampa, Fla., they are riding their longest winning streak in 11 years and have a chance to already eclipse their victory total from last season.
DePaul at Villanova 8:30 PM ET
Villanova rolled over Connecticut in its last game, but with 10 days off it remains to be seen if the momentum will carry over to the new year. The Wildcats open Big East play on Wednesday with a home date against DePaul.
Northwestern at Michigan St 8:30 PM ET
Michigan State resumes league play looking for a seventh straight victory when it hosts Northwestern in a Big Ten Conference contest Wednesday. The No. 7 Spartans are coming off an 88-60 victory over Northern Illinois on Saturday, while the Wildcats topped Columbia 75-54 for their third win in four contests Sunday.
Iowa State at Oklahoma State 9:00 PM ET
The Iowa State men's basketball team has heightened expectations after finishing a non-conference schedule with 10 wins in 12 outings. The Cyclones hope that success travels well as they open Big 12 play on Wednesday with a visit to Oklahoma State at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Okla.
Texas at Kansas State 9:00 PM ET
Kansas State faces a tall task in hosting Texas on Wednesday in the Big 12 opener for both teams. The Wildcats are trying for their fifth straight victory over the Longhorns but will be challenged by the length of 6-9 senior Dylan Osetkowski and 6-11 freshman Jaxson Hayes - especially without 6-10 senior Dean Wade in the lineup (foot).
Oklahoma at Kansas 9:00 PM ET
The road to a 15th straight Big 12 championship begins Wednesday for No. 6 Kansas when the Jayhawks open conference play at home against No. 25 Oklahoma. The Jayhawks have won all eight games at Allen Fieldhouse this season and are 116-8 in Big 12 home games during coach Bill Self’s 16-year tenure.
Utah St. at Nevada 11:00 PM ET
It has already been a historic season for No. 5 Nevada, which has achieved the highest ranking in school history along with its best start (13-0) since moving into Division I in 1969-70. The Wolf Pack now set their sights on becoming the first school in Mountain West history to win three consecutive outright regular season championships when it hosts Utah State on Wednesday night in the conference opener for both teams.
