The Minnesota Twins did what they had to do over the weekend and look to begin putting away the American League Central title as their final 13 games are against the bottom three teams in the division, including the opener of their three-game series against the visiting Chicago White Sox on Monday. The Twins swept a doubleheader from second-place Cleveland on Saturday before losing the series finale 7-5 and lead the Indians by 4 1/2 games with two weeks left in the regular season.

The St. Louis Cardinals' grip on first place in the National League Central is tenuous at best following losses in four of their last six contests. The Cardinals aim to get back on track Monday, when they send Stephen Strasburg to the mound for the opener of their three-game series versus the visiting Washington Nationals.

The Chicago Cubs look to continue their offensive surge when they host the Cincinnati Reds on Monday for the opener of their three-game series but may have to do it without another of their most productive hitters. The Cubs own a one-game lead for the National League's second wild card after scoring 47 runs en route to a three-game sweep of Pittsburgh over the weekend, but Anthony Rizzo (team-high 93 RBIs) left Sunday’s 16-6 victory with an ankle injury.

The New York Mets' postseason hopes took a hit on Sunday thanks to the team's beleaguered bullpen. New York attempts to remain relevant in the National League wild-card race when it begins its final road trip of the season with the opener of a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies on Monday.
Miami at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
The Arizona Diamondbacks have put themselves in jeopardy of missing the postseason for the seventh time in eight seasons thanks to a stretch during which they've lost seven of the last eight contests. The club attempts to cling to its slim wild-card hopes when it hosts the Miami Marlins on Monday for the opener of their three-game series.

The red-hot Oakland Athletics are winners of six in a row as they try to secure the top American League wild card spot. The Athletics will try to continue the hot streak when they return home for the start of a six-game homestand and host the Kansas City Royals on Monday.
