Milwaukee at Miami 1:10 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers kept their fallen leader close to their hearts as they continued their series against the Miami Marlins, with Ryan Braun going a step further. Braun wore Christian Yelich's jersey under his own in Milwaukee's 7-5 victory on Wednesday, and he plans to do again on Thursday afternoon as the Brewers vie for a four-game sweep in Miami.
NY Yankees at Detroit 1:10 PM ET
The New York Yankees started off their 10-game road trip by winning three of four in Boston but they have not enjoyed their brief stay in Detroit, blowing a six-run lead in a 12-11 loss to the worst team in the majors in the series opener. Rain then washed out Wednesday night's game, forcing the Yankees and host Tigers to play a straight doubleheader Thursday afternoon.
Arizona at NY Mets 1:10 PM ET
Alex Young's best major league start to date sent the Arizona Diamondbacks to their 11th win in 12 contests before the formerly red-hot team went ice-cold in their next four outings. Young returns to the mound on Thursday afternoon as the visiting Diamondbacks aim to put a halt to their losing skid in the finale of their four-game series against the New York Mets.
Kansas City at Chi. White Sox 2:10 PM ET
Jorge Soler will get a chance to continue his push for the American League home run crown when his Kansas City Royals take on the host Chicago White Sox in the rubber match of a three-game series Thursday. Soler clubbed his 42nd and 43rd home runs in Wednesday's 8-6 win, pulling him within two of Mike Trout for the AL lead with 16 games to play.
St. Louis at Colorado 3:10 PM ET
The first-place St. Louis Cardinals are struggling mightily on the road versus the National League West this season as they try to avoid a three-game sweep to the Rockies in Colorado on Thursday afternoon. St. Louis fell to 2-9 against the division, scoring two or fewer runs in eight of the contests, after a second straight 2-1 loss at Coors Field on Wednesday.
Chi. Cubs at San Diego 3:40 PM ET
The Chicago Cubs will look to break out of a damaging funk when they close a four-game series against the host San Diego Padres on Thursday. Chicago has lost two straight games and five of its last six, and suddenly shares the National League's second wild-card spot with the streaking Milwaukee Brewers.
Pittsburgh at San Francisco 3:45 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates figure to have several position battles next season, but any questions about the starting shortstop may have already been answered. Kevin Newman appears to have emerged as a long-term solution for the Pirates, who visit the San Francisco Giants on Thursday in the finale of a four-game series.
NY Yankees at Detroit 4:40 PM ET
The New York Yankees started off their 10-game road trip by winning three of four in Boston but they have not enjoyed their brief stay in Detroit, blowing a six-run lead in a 12-11 loss to the worst team in the majors in the series opener. Rain then washed out Wednesday night's game, forcing the Yankees and host Tigers to play a straight doubleheader Thursday afternoon.
Boston at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
On a night when Major League Baseball's all-time single season home run record was set, the Boston Red Sox continued to stagger to the finish line, managing a pair of singles in a lopsided loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. The visiting Red Sox will try to halt a five-game losing streak and avoid a three-game sweep in the series finale against the Blue Jays on Thursday night.
LA Dodgers at Baltimore 7:15 PM ET
Lefty Rich Hill returns to the mound for the first time in nearly three months when he starts for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday in the finale of a three-game series with the host Baltimore Orioles. Hill went down with a forearm strain June 19 and is expected to make four starts down the stretch for the Dodgers as he aims to earn a spot in the postseason rotation.
Atlanta at Philadelphia 7:15 PM ET
After a minor blip Tuesday the Atlanta Braves returned to the form that has vaulted them to the verge of the National League East division title, and head into Thursday’s contest at the Philadelphia Phillies seeking a series victory and another strong pitching performance. One night after starter Max Fried gave up five runs, Dallas Keuchel pitched six solid innings and three relievers held the lead in a 3-1 victory Wednesday that dropped the Braves magic number to eight.
Washington at Minnesota 7:40 PM ET
Ryan Zimmerman has made his presence felt since returning from a long absence due to a foot injury and looks to continue his power surge when the Washington Nationals visit the Minnesota Twins for the rubber match of a three-game interleague set Thursday. Zimmerman had three hits, including a two-run blast, and three RBIs as the Nationals evened the series with a 6-2 victory Wednesday to improve to 10-6 against the American League this year.
Tampa Bay at Texas 8:05 PM ET
The Texas Rangers won’t be playing in the postseason, but can make an impact on the race and get back to .500 when they host the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday for the rubber match of a three-game series. Seattle rookie outfielder Kyle Lewis tries to break up a no-hitter with a home run for the third straight time to start his career when the Mariners seek a three-game sweep of the visiting Cincinnati Reds. Lewis spoiled Sonny Gray's bid with a go-ahead three-run shot in the seventh inning of Wednesday's 5-3 victory - Seattle's 15th in 17 tries against Cincinnati - after his first career hit came in the fifth inning of Tuesday's 4-3 win.
