September 10, 2019
NY Yankees at Detroit 6:40 PM ET
The New York Yankees are in great shape as they attempt to secure their first American League East crown since 2012, but they still have plenty of work to do in order to secure home-field advantage in the postseason. The Yankees continue their quest to do just that on Tuesday, when they visit the Detroit Tigers for the opener of their three-game series.
LA Dodgers at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers are on the verge of clinching the National League West as they get set for their final trip to the East Coast this season. The Dodgers can claim their seventh straight division title when they visit the lowly Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game series.
Atlanta at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
The top four hitters in the Atlanta Braves lineup have fueled the National League East leaders all summer, and the quartet of Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies, Freddie Freeman and Josh Donaldson look to continue assaulting opposing pitchers entering Tuesday’s game at the Philadelphia Phillies. The four combined to go 7-for-16 with two homers, six RBIs, three walks and six runs scored in Atlanta’s 7-2 victory Monday, lowering the Braves magic number to clinch the East to 10.
Boston at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox knew it was only a matter of time before the sand in the hourglass ran out on their hopes of winning their fourth consecutive American League East title, and it might not be much longer before their postseason aspirations fade away as well. The Red Sox attempt to end a three-game losing streak when they visit the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday for the opener of their three-game series.
Milwaukee at Miami 7:10 PM ET
Yasmani Grandal's impressive power display has the Milwaukee Brewers knocking on the door of a return trip to the playoffs. With four homers in his last five contests, the two-time All-Star looks to send the Brewers to their fifth straight victory on Tuesday when they continue their four-game series against the host Miami Marlins.
Arizona at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
Rookie Pete Alonso is enjoying a September to remember, and the month is only nine days old. Fresh off a two-homer performance, Alonso carries an eight-game hitting streak into Tuesday's tilt at Citi Field as the New York Mets continue their four-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Washington at Minnesota 7:40 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins’ biggest fear this month in their quest for the American League Central title may ultimately be health, as they prepare to host the Washington Nationals for the opener of a three-game interleague series Tuesday night. The Twins were missing four regulars and another left the game early Sunday as they dropped a 5-2 decision to Cleveland, which reduced their lead in the division to 5 1/2 games.
Tampa Bay at Texas 8:05 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays are riding plenty of momentum as they embark on a critical eight-game road trip that begins with the first of three games against the improving Texas Rangers on Tuesday night. The Rays finished off a 9-1 homestand with an 8-3 victory over Toronto on Sunday and have won 10 of 11 to hold down the top wild-card spot in the American League with 17 games left on their schedule.
Oakland at Houston 8:10 PM ET
The Houston Astros put on a record-setting performance in the series opener and strive to keep up their offensive assault when they host the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday for the second contest of their four-game set. Houston set a major-league record with six homers in the first two innings and finished with a club record-tying seven blasts as it steamrolled Oakland 15-0 on Monday.
Kansas City at Chi. White Sox 8:10 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals and Chicago White Sox do not have much to play for entering a three-game series in the Windy City on Tuesday, but there are several individual achievements in sight for players on both sides. The Royals boast a slugger in Jorge Soler, whose 41 home runs ranks second in the American League to Mike Trout (45), giving the team an outside chance of having its first home run champ.
St. Louis at Colorado 8:40 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals are pulling away in the National League Central and are trying to take advantage of a soft spot in the schedule before a closing stretch that will see them play 16 straight against teams with winning records. The Cardinals will try to get started on a seventh consecutive series win when they visit the Colorado Rockies in the opener of a three-game set on Tuesday.
Pittsburgh at San Francisco 9:45 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates hope to avoid the need for late-inning heroics on Tuesday as they attempt to extend their road winning streak to six games when they visit the San Francisco Giants for the second contest of their four-game series. Pittsburgh rallied for four runs in the ninth inning to post a 6-4 victory in Monday's series opener.
Cleveland at LA Angels 10:07 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians are closing in on a wild-card spot but still haven't given up hope for the American League Central crown. Cleveland looks to grab the former and move closer to the latter when it visits the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday for the middle contest of their three-game series.
Chi. Cubs at San Diego 10:10 PM ET
The Chicago Cubs have key players receiving first aid, but it was them administering the beating in the opener of their four-game series against the San Diego Padres. Javier Baez (left thumb) is done for the regular season and Kris Bryant (right knee) has missed two straight games entering the second contest of the set on Tuesday, but the absences of the two stars didn't prevent Chicago from routing the Padres 10-2 on Monday.
Cincinnati at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
With an eye toward the future, the Seattle Mariners hope to see another gem from young lefty Justus Sheffield when he faces the visiting Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game series. Sheffield, acquired in the trade that sent James Paxton to the New York Yankees last offseason, struggled in his first three outings with the Mariners before a stellar five innings at Wrigley Field his last time out.
