Preview Roundups
September 09, 2019
Atlanta at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
The Atlanta Braves open a seven-game road trip Monday at the Philadelphia Phillies seeking to move closer to their second consecutive National League East title, after a very successful weekend series victory over Washington. Atlanta captured three of the four games with the Nationals to push its division lead to nine games, and while Sunday’s 9-4 loss snapped a nine-game winning streak, the Braves begin the trip having won 10 of its past 15 road contests.
NY Yankees at Boston 7:10 PM ET
The New York Yankees attempt to increase their franchise-record single-season home run total and win their fifth consecutive series when they visit the Boston Red Sox on Monday for the finale of their four-game set. The Yankees went deep three times in Sunday's 10-5 triumph to give them 268 blasts in 2019, eclipsing the mark they set just last year.
Milwaukee at Miami 7:10 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers took it upon themselves to tighten the race for the second wild card in the National League by winning three straight against the team that currently holds that spot. The Brewers look to continue their good fortune on Monday when they open a four-game road series versus the team that resides in the league's cellar: the Miami Marlins.
Arizona at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
The Arizona Diamondbacks had blazed a trail toward a potential postseason berth on the strength of 11-1 stretch before falling short in their last outing. The Diamondbacks aim to regain their footing on Monday when they open a four-game series against reigning National League Cy Young Award recipient Jacob deGrom and the host New York Mets.
Oakland at Houston 8:10 PM ET
The Houston Astros appear to have the American League West wrapped up with three weeks remaining in the regular season, but that doesn't mean they are taking their foot off the gas. The Astros will go for their fifth straight win and try to cut another game off their magic number when they host the Oakland Athletics in the first of a four-game series on Monday.
Pittsburgh at San Francisco 9:45 PM ET
Both the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco Giants recorded a total of one run over the weekend, giving their offenses very little momentum entering the opener of a four-game series in San Francisco on Monday. After losing 10-1 to the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday, the Pirates managed five hits in a 2-0 setback Sunday.
Cleveland at LA Angels 10:07 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians earned a big series win at Minnesota over the weekend but still aren't where they want to be in terms of the standings. The Indians will try to keep the pressure on in both the American League Central and the wild card race when they visit the Los Angeles Angels on Monday for the opener of a three-game series.
Chi. Cubs at San Diego 10:10 PM ET
The Chicago Cubs have given plenty of hope to their pursuers for the National League’s second wild card with three straight losses and look to turn things around when they visit the San Diego Padres on Monday night to open a four-game series. The Cubs suffered an 8-5 loss on Sunday at Milwaukee and lead Arizona by 1 1/2 games, with a pair of teams two back and the New York Mets within four with 20 contests left.
