NY Yankees at Boston 4:05 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox went the unconventional route in quieting the potent offense of the New York Yankees in the opener of a four-game series, using seven pitchers to beat their bitter rival for only the fifth time in 16 games this season. The Red Sox will be hoping for a similar outcome from the bullpen when they use an opener for Saturday afternoon's matchup.
Arizona at Cincinnati 4:10 PM ET
The Arizona Diamondbacks passed their first test on their seven-game road trip, continuing a torrid stretch that has pulled them into third place in the wild-card race. Toronto at Tampa Bay 6:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays send ace Charlie Morton to the mound in search of his career high-tying 15th victory when they host the struggling Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday for the third of a four-game series between American League East rivals. The Rays used five pitchers to limit Toronto to just two hits as they won for the eighth time in nine games and maintained the top spot in the AL wild-card race with a 5-0 victory Friday.
Kansas City at Miami 6:10 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals guaranteed themselves a third consecutive losing season a while ago, but a fortuitous week-long run against last-place teams has them on the brink of winning three straight series. Texas at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Texas Rangers can clinch a road series win for the first time in over two months when they continue a four-game series at the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday. The Rangers took the first two games of the set, rallying from an early three-run deficit to win Friday's matchup 7-6.
St. Louis at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals are trying to build on their lead in the National League Central and stay ahead of the pack as the season comes down the stretch and taking advantage of a soft spot in the schedule is key. The Cardinals missed their first opportunity while squandering a lead on Friday but will try to bounce back when they visit the Pittsburgh Pirates for the second of a three-game series on Saturday.
Seattle at Houston 7:10 PM ET
Justin Verlander returns to the mound after throwing his third career no-hitter when the Houston Astros host the Seattle Mariners on Saturday in the third contest of a four-game set. Verlander dominated the Toronto Blue Jays in his last turn and is looking to bolster his chances of winning his second career American League Cy Young Award.
Cleveland at Minnesota 7:10 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians are not ready to concede the American League Central and will try to shave another game off their deficit when they visit the Minnesota Twins on Saturday for the second of three contests. The Indians scored four times in the top of the 11th inning to take the opener 6-2 on Friday to pull within 5 1/2 games of the first-place Twins and improve to 8-6 in the season series.
LA Angels at Chi. White Sox 7:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels rallied after their MVP candidate Mike Trout left the game Friday in Chicago. They hope to have the superstar center fielder back in the lineup when they continue a three-game series with the host White Sox on Saturday.
Chi. Cubs at Milwaukee 7:10 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers are 25-25 over their last 50 games, but they know they’ll have to have to play better than .500 ball over their final 22 contests to earn a spot in the postseason. The Brewers look to improve their playoff chances Saturday when they continue their four-game series against the visiting Chicago Cubs.
Philadelphia at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
The Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Mets are both trying to stay in the wild-card race in the National League while dealing with some struggles at the back end of the bullpen. The Phillies will try to avoid another bullpen letdown and even the series at one win apiece when they visit the Mets on Saturday.
Washington at Atlanta 7:20 PM ET
The Atlanta Braves knew entering their four-game home weekend series with the Washington Nationals that they could all but seal their second consecutive National League East title, and entering Saturday’s third game they have put a stranglehold on the division while suffocating their closest contender. The Braves won their second straight game in the series and eighth in a row overall Friday, a 4-3 victory that pushed Atlanta’s division lead to nine games over the Nationals.
Colorado at San Diego 8:40 PM ET
One day after snapping their longest losing streak in more than four years, the Colorado Rockies look to build on the rare victory when they continue their three-game series against the host San Diego Padres on Saturday. Colorado grabbed an early lead on Friday and ended their nine-game skid with a 3-2 victory behind rookie Tim Melville, who pitched into the sixth inning.
Detroit at Oakland 9:07 PM ET
It took the Oakland Athletics about 3 1/2 months to secure a 16th consecutive victory over the Detroit Tigers and just over 3 1/2 hours to see the streak come to an end. The Athletics attempt to overcome a rare loss to the Tigers in the opener of their three-game set when they continue the series on Saturday with the middle contest.
San Francisco at LA Dodgers 9:10 PM ET
