Philadelphia at Cincinnati 12:35 PM ET
The Philadelphia Phillies showed resolve in battling back from an early five-run deficit only to run out of steam in their last outing. The Phillies won't have much time to lament that loss as they play the finale of their four-game series against the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday afternoon.
Chi. White Sox at Cleveland 1:10 PM ET
Rookie Oscar Mercado collected an RBI single among his three hits in his last outing, but his sterling defensive play was the talk of the town and prevented what could have been a demoralizing loss to the Chicago White Sox. Fueled by Mercado's heroics, the Indians look to capture their third win of the four-game series on Thursday afternoon when they conclude the set in Cleveland.
San Francisco at St. Louis 1:15 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals attempt to bounce back from a rare setback when they close a four-game series against the visiting San Francisco Giants on Thursday. The Giants outlasted the Cardinals 9-8 on Wednesday to hand St. Louis its fourth defeat in the past 18 games.
Detroit at Kansas City 1:15 PM ET
Detroit left-hander Matthew Boyd is feeling the effects of baseball's home run epidemic more than anyone and he'll try to figure out how to keep the ball in the park when the visiting Tigers attempt to avoid a three-game sweep against the Kansas City Royals on Thursday afternoon. Boyd has allowed a major league-most 36 homers - including 13 in his last five starts - but has yielded only two in 45 2/3 career innings at Kauffman Stadium.
LA Angels at Oakland 3:37 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics look to complete a three-game sweep of Los Angeles when they host the struggling Angels on Thursday. Oakland has outscored Los Angeles 34-10 while winning five consecutive meetings and is 11-5 against the Angels this season.
Texas at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Texas Rangers opened their current seven-game road trip in impressive fashion by thumping the New York Yankees, but the good vibes soon diminished as their offense quickly dried up. The Rangers will look to avoid falling a season-worst six games under .500 when they play the first of four at the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday night.
Miami at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
Pittsburgh outfielder Bryan Reynolds is enjoying a rookie campaign that could ultimately be a historic one and tries to continue on that path when the Pirates host the Miami Marlins on Thursday in the rubber match of their three-game series. Reynolds, who is bidding to become the first rookie in the modern era to win the National League batting title, delivered a walk-off, two-run single in the ninth inning Wednesday in Pittsburgh's 6-5 victory.
Minnesota at Boston 7:10 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox are running out of games to make up ground in the wild-card race, but for one night they looked the part of the defending World Series champions thanks to their reigning American League MVP. With a huge series against their bitter rival on deck, the Red Sox will host the Minnesota Twins on Thursday night in the rubber match of a three-game set.
Toronto at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
Austin Meadows has caused plenty of trouble for the Toronto Blue Jays this year and the Rays’ outfielder looks to do some more damage with the bat when the teams open a four-game set in Tampa Bay on Thursday night. Meadows is 21-for-50 with five homers and 11 RBIs in 12 games against the Blue Jays in 2019 and the 24-year-old outfielder is riding a four-game hitting streak overall (7-for-13) coming into the series.
Chi. Cubs at Milwaukee 7:10 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers get one more chance to face the team holding the second wild card in a head-to-head meeting before the end of the regular season, and that happens this weekend. The Brewers will try to shave a game off their wild card deficit when they host the Chicago Cubs in the opener of a four-game series on Thursday.
Washington at Atlanta 7:20 PM ET
The Washington Nationals have chased the National League East lead all summer, and now they get their chance to draw closer when they open a four-game series Thursday at the division-leading Atlanta Braves. The first-place Braves and second-place Nationals play seven times in the next 11 days, and even though Washington has baseball’s best record since May 24 (59-29), they remain seven games back as the Braves have played just as well since that date (58-31).
Seattle at Houston 8:10 PM ET
The Houston Astros are cruising toward another American League West title and are mostly concerned with staying healthy and sharp the rest of the way. The Astros aren't having much luck in the health department, but will try to stay sharp when they host the Seattle Mariners on Thursday in the opener of a four-game series.
