Cincinnati at St. Louis 1:05 PM ET
The Cincinnati Reds and host St. Louis Cardinals will try to muster some energy Sunday when they play their second straight doubleheader to finish off a busy weekend at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals took both meetings Saturday, cruising to a 10-6 triumph in the afternoon before rallying for two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to steal the nightcap 3-2.
Oakland at NY Yankees 1:05 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics have been a nemesis for the New York Yankees, but the Bronx Bombers finally managed to solve them by playing to their strength. New York's fourth homer of the game, a walk-off blast by DJ LeMahieu on Saturday, ended a four-game slide against the Athletics and gave the Yankees a chance for a series win in Sunday afternoon's rubber match.
Houston at Toronto 1:07 PM ET
Houston Astros right-hander Justin Verlander has a chance to tie for the major league lead in victories and match his highest win total in seven years when he takes the mound for Sunday's series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays. The 2011 American League Cy Young Award winner has struggled in his career against the Blue Jays, beating them three times in 13 starts.
Cleveland at Tampa Bay 1:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays are on the upswing again after winning their last three contests and will send ace right-hander Charlie Morton to the mound seeking a three-game sweep of the visiting Cleveland Indians on Sunday afternoon. The Rays recorded a shutout in the series opener and got their bats in gear Saturday night by launching four homers on the way to a 9-6 triumph.
Minnesota at Detroit 1:10 PM ET
It was only a matter of time before the Minnesota Twins broke the all-time home run record, and the only downside was that the record blast came in a loss. The Twins will try to bash their way to a victory when they visit the Detroit Tigers for the third of a four-game series on Sunday.
Miami at Washington 1:35 PM ET
The Washington Nationals continue to thrive behind slugger Anthony Rendon as he makes a late charge into the MVP conversation while the team charges up the standings. Rendon and the Nationals will try to polish off a three-game sweep when they host the Miami Marlins in a series finale on Sunday.
Baltimore at Kansas City 2:15 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals will try to secure their first series win in nearly six weeks when they take on the visiting Baltimore Orioles on Sunday in the rubber match of a three-game set. After dropping the series opener 14-2, the Royals scored once in the seventh inning and twice in the eighth en route to Saturday's 7-5 triumph.
Milwaukee at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers likely will welcome roster expansion with open arms on Sunday considering the recent spate of injuries that have ravaged the club. The bandaged-up Brewers would be best served to focus their attention on securing a series victory on Sunday afternoon when they play the rubber match of a three-game set against the host Chicago Cubs.
Seattle at Texas 3:05 PM ET
Elvis Andrus has struggled to contribute offensively for the better part of the last two months, but he provided just what the Texas Rangers needed in their last contest. The Rangers try to win three in a row for the first time in nearly a month Sunday when they attempt to earn a series victory in the finale of their four-game set at home against the Seattle Mariners.
Pittsburgh at Colorado 3:10 PM ET
Few teams are as eager to turn the calendar as the Colorado Rockies, who have lost 11 of their last 13 and fallen a season-worst 19 games under .500. Colorado looks to avoid a four-game sweep on Sunday against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates, who recorded 17 hits in Saturday’s 11-4 victory.
San Diego at San Francisco 4:05 PM ET
Manny Machado's first season with the San Diego Padres has been filled with peaks and valleys, but he appears intent on finishing on a high note. The four-time All-Star looks to continue his recent hot streak Sunday when the Padres visit the San Francisco Giants in the finale of a four-game series.
Boston at LA Angels 4:07 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox missed a golden opportunity to make up ground in the American League wild-card race Saturday and will try to rebound quickly when they visit the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday for the rubber match of a three-game set. The Red Sox bullpen allowed seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning on the way to a devastating 10-4 loss in the middle contest of the series and they remain 5 1/2 games out in the wild card chase.
LA Dodgers at Arizona 4:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers are a virtual lock to win the National League West for the seventh consecutive season, but their recent play has already cost them the best record in majors and put them in some danger of clinching home field through the NL playoffs. The Dodgers attempt to snap a three-game losing streak and avoid a sweep Sunday when they visit the Arizona Diamondbacks for the finale of their four-game set.
Chi. White Sox at Atlanta 5:10 PM ET
Suffice to say the Atlanta Braves have rediscovered their offensive swagger after an extended dry spell and they look to finish a three-game home sweep of the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. The National League East leaders have scored 30 runs on 36 hits in their past three games after scoring only 18 times in their previous six contests, plating six first-inning runs in Saturday’s 11-5 victory as second baseman Ozzie Albies and center fielder Billy Hamilton led the charge.
NY Mets at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
One can hardly blame New York Mets catcher Wilson Ramos if he is hesitant to turn the page on the calendar, as the 32-year-old has hit safely in all but one contest in August while batting a robust 43-for-99 with 20 RBIs in the month. Ramos carries a career-high 24-game hitting streak into the series finale against the host Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday night.
Cincinnati at St. Louis 7:05 PM ET
