August 18, 2019
Baltimore at Boston 1:05 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox are still hanging around at the edges of the wild card race in the American League, but things are only getting harder as the injury list grows and the schedule gets shorter. The Red Sox will try to take care of what's in front of them and finish off a three-game sweep when they host the Baltimore Orioles in the series finale on Sunday.
Cleveland at NY Yankees 1:05 PM ET
The New York Yankees are savages in the batter's box, according to their manager, but have expanded their attack toward the umpires as they host the Cleveland Indians on Sunday. New York reacted to a pitch that was just off the plate but called a strike by Triple-A umpire Ben May so severely during its 6-5 victory Saturday that Brett Gardner, CC Sabathia and manager Aaron Boone were ejected with Gardner tossed for the second time in a month after a run-in with a rookie umpire.
San Diego at Philadelphia 1:05 PM ET
After coming up short in their fifth attempt at a season-high five-game winning streak, the Philadelphia Phillies instead will vie for a second straight series victory when they host the San Diego Padres on Sunday afternoon for the rubber match of their three-game set. Philadelphia squandered an early three-run lead in Saturday's 5-3 setback.
Seattle at Toronto 1:07 PM ET
Kyle Seager is making the most of an otherwise difficult season for he and his Seattle Mariners, who take on the host Toronto Blue Jays in the rubber match of a three-game series Sunday. Seager, who missed the first 53 games of the year with a finger injury, hit a tiebreaking home run in the top of the eighth inning to lead Seattle to a 4-3 win Saturday afternoon.
Detroit at Tampa Bay 1:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays have only scored one run in the last 30 innings, but their pitching staff has given them a chance to win a series when the Detroit Tigers visit Sunday afternoon for the finale of a three-game set. The Rays, who hold the second wild card in the American League by a half-game, limited the Tigers to just three hits in 13 innings Saturday before Eric Sogard belted a two-out double and scored on Mike Brosseau’s RBI single for a 1-0 victory.
St. Louis at Cincinnati 1:10 PM ET
The Cincinnati Reds are hanging around the fringes of the race in the National League Central due in large part to their star rookie. Aristides Aquino will try to continue his historic pace and lead the Reds to a key series win when they host the St. Louis Cardinals in the finale of a four-game series on Sunday.
LA Dodgers at Atlanta 1:20 PM ET
Adam Duvall was demoted to the minors Friday after collecting just three hits in his previous 33 at-bats, but the Atlanta Braves outfielder answered the call when recalled due to injury and has put his team in position to win a home series Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Duvall followed Josh Donaldson’s go-ahead sixth-inning homer Saturday with one of his own, helping lift the Braves to a 4-3 victory in a matchup of the two winningest teams in the National League.
Milwaukee at Washington 1:35 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers look to grab a huge series victory after surviving a marathon 14-inning affair when they visit the Washington Nationals for the rubber match of a three-game set on Sunday afternoon. The Brewers belted a franchise record-tying seven homers, including Eric Thames’ two-run blast in the 14th frame, earning a 15-14 victory to even the series and remain one game out in the race for the second National League wild card spot.
NY Mets at Kansas City 2:15 PM ET
The New York Mets lost three of the first four contests of their six-game road trip and avoided another setback on Saturday with a late surge. New York attempts to break even on its trek when it visits the Kansas City Royals on Sunday for the rubber match of their three-game interleague series.
Minnesota at Texas 3:05 PM ET
Martin Perez spent the bulk of his career with the Texas Rangers before joining Minnesota this year, while Lance Lynn made 20 starts for the Twins a year ago. Oddly enough, both pitchers will be matched up against their former teams - as well as one another - when the Twins go for a sweep of their four-game series at Texas on Sunday.
Miami at Colorado 3:10 PM ET
The Colorado Rockies aim for their first series sweep in two months on Sunday in the finale of their three-game set against the visiting Miami Marlins, who have lost 12 of their last 15 contests. Ryan McMahon remained red-hot for Colorado, belting two more home runs in Saturday’s 11-4 victory.
Chi. White Sox at LA Angels 4:07 PM ET
Mike Trout was kept in the ballpark on Saturday for the first time in the series but still managed to do some damage for the Los Angeles Angels. The club hopes for more of the same from the superstar on Sunday as it looks to conclude its seven-game homestand with a winning record when it hosts the Chicago White Sox for the finale of their four-game set.
Houston at Oakland 4:07 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics are closing fast in the American League West and can make the race much more interesting if they can finish off a four-game sweep of the visiting first-place Houston Astros on Sunday. The Athletics have gained four games in four days on the Astros and pulled to within 6 1/2 games with Saturday's 8-4 victory.
San Francisco at Arizona 4:10 PM ET
Long known as a streaky hitter, Brandon Belt appears primed for another hot stretch. Belt looks to build on his recent success when the San Francisco Giants aim for a sweep of their four-game series on Sunday against the host Arizona Diamondbacks, who have dropped four in a row.
Chi. Cubs at Pittsburgh 7:10 PM ET
Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Trevor Williams and his teammates had a memorable experience when they visited Williamsport, Pa., for the inaugural MLB Little League Classic in 2017. Williams gets his wish of returning as the Pirates meet the Chicago Cubs on Sunday at Bowman Field, a minor league ballpark across the Susquehanna River with a capcity of 2,366 and less than eight miles from Lamade Stadium - site of the Little League World Series.
