July 27, 2020
LA Angels at Oakland 3:40 PM ET
Mike Trout had his first big game of the 2020 season Sunday in Oakland, but he didn't get much help. The three-time MVP and his fellow Los Angeles Angels will try to gain a split of a season-opening four-game series at the Oakland Athletics on Monday.
Arizona at San Diego 4:10 PM ET
The Arizona Diamondbacks have had limited success trying to figure out the starting pitching for the San Diego Padres through three games, but they were able to solve the bullpen just in time Sunday to avoid their first 0-3 start since 2014. The Diamondbacks hope to carry that late offensive surge in their first win of the season into the finale of their four-game set in San Diego when they try to earn a series split against the Padres.
Toronto at Washington 6:05 PM ET
The Washington Nationals' World Series title defense is off to a slow start after dropping two of three to American League favorites the New York Yankees. The Nationals will try to bounce back when they host the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday in the opener of four straight in Washington, with the Blue Jays serving as the home team in the last two contests.
Chi. Cubs at Cincinnati 6:40 PM ET
The Cincinnati Reds were a popular pick to make a leap into contention this season after making multiple upgrades to the lineup over the winter and returning an emerging rotation ,but they got off to a slow start while dropping two of three at home to the Detroit Tigers. The Reds will try to pick things up against a more familiar opponent when they host the National League Central-rival Chicago Cubs in the opener of a four-game series Monday night.
Atlanta at Tampa Bay 6:40 PM ET
It had been a slow start offensively for Kevin Kiermaier throughout most of the Tampa Bay Rays’ season-opening set, but his first hit of 2020 clinched a series victory heading into Monday’s home matchup with the Atlanta Braves. Kiermaier, who went hitless in his first 11 at-bats of the season, tripled down the right-field line in the 10th inning to plate two runs and lift the Rays to a 6-5 victory over Toronto.
Milwaukee at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
Steven Brault knows he may only pitch three innings in the Pittsburgh Pirates' home opener, but he still feels honored to take the mound. Likely working a piggyback situation with Chad Kuhl, Brault will try to do his job for as long as called upon when the Milwaukee Brewers visit PNC Park for the first of three games on Monday.
NY Yankees at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
The New York Yankees captured two of three from the reigning World Series champions to establish some early momentum at the onset of the season. The visiting Yankees continue their tour of the National League East on Monday when they open a two-city, four-game series against former manager Joe Girardi, ex-teammate Didi Gregorius and the Philadelphia Phillies.
Baltimore at Miami 7:10 PM ET
The Miami Marlins likely weren't in much of a celebratory mood despite winning their first season-opening series since 2014, and with good reason. With multiple players reportedly testing positive for the coronavirus, the Marlins look to focus on baseball Monday when they open a two-city, four-game series against the visiting Baltimore Orioles.
Chi. White Sox at Cleveland 7:10 PM ET
Jose Ramirez started last year with a prolonged batting slump and it does not appear the Cleveland Indians slugger is destined to match that in this shortened 60-game, 2020 campaign. Ramirez is 5-for-12 with a pair of homers and five runs batted in to open the season as the Indians prepare to host the Chicago White Sox on Monday to open a three-game set.
Kansas City at Detroit 7:10 PM ET
Detroit Tigers right-hander Michael Fulmer once was on the fast track to stardom, winning the American League Rookie of the Year in 2016 and gaining an All-Star bid the following season. The 27-year-old has since been derailed by injuries, but he begins his comeback bid Monday night in his team's home opener against the Kansas City Royals.
Seattle at Houston 7:10 PM ET
The Houston Astros figured to face their fair share of blowback as a result of the investigation that uncovered how they cheated by stealing signs in 2017 and 2018, but they were probably hopeful they could go more than a week into the season without more adversity. After learning they won't have Justin Verlander available for at least for his next two or three scheduled starts, the Astros attempt to avoid a four-game split at home against the Seattle Mariners on Monday.
NY Mets at Boston 7:35 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox look to get some of their key offensive players going after a disappointing series loss when they begin a two-city, four-game set against the visiting New York Mets on Monday night. The Red Sox posted 13 runs to win their season opener before being held to six combined in the final two and dropped the series to the rebuilding Baltimore Orioles.
