Nearly four months delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Washington Nationals begin defense of their World Series title by hosting the New York Yankees at an empty Nationals Park on Thursday, commencing Major League Baseball's shortened season. The Nationals, who host the Yankees on Saturday and Sunday to cap the three-game set, beat the Houston Astros in October, and will attempt to repeat after an unusual 60-game regular season filled with health protocols and travel restrictions.
San Francisco at LA Dodgers 10:08 PM ET
Mookie Betts is set to make his long-awaited debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday in an Opening Day matchup against the visiting San Francisco Giants. The four-time All-Star was acquired by the Dodgers in February, just before the start of the season was delayed by nearly four months because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
