July 23, 2019
Colorado at Washington 7:05 PM ET
The Washington Nationals were unable to get a four-game series going with the Colorado Rockies on Monday due to rain in the nation's capital, but the day was not a complete wash. Nationals ace Max Scherzer, who is sidelined due to shoulder inflammation, was able to squeeze in an important bullpen session before the rainout as he eyes a return perhaps later in the week.
St. Louis at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals have experienced no shortage of drama over the last week, and they really pushed the envelope in that regard Monday in order to improve to 8-3 since the All-Star break. The Cardinals look to extend their second-half surge a little bit longer Tuesday with the second of four games in Pittsburgh against the Pirates.
Cleveland at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
Right-hander Trevor Bauer looks to match his last outing against the Toronto Blue Jays when the Cleveland Indians visit for the second of a three-game series Tuesday, seeking a ninth victory in 10 contests. Bauer walked six and struck out eight while holding the Blue Jays without a hit over seven scoreless innings in a 4-1 triumph on April 4, and hopes to reach double-digit wins for the fifth straight season.
Boston at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox have not been in second place in the American League East since March 29, when they were tied with two other teams at 1-1. After opening a three-game series in Tampa Bay with an easy win, the Red Sox can pull even with the second-place Rays with a victory Tuesday.
Philadelphia at Detroit 7:10 PM ET
The Philadelphia Phillies enter the week a half-game out of the second National League wild card spot and are building momentum after a dramatic series win over the weekend. The Phillies will try to keep pushing forward when they host the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday in the opener of a two-game interleague series.
San Diego at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
The New York Mets and San Diego Padres are both also-rans in their respective division races but remain in contention for the National League wild cards despite sporting sub-.500 records. After completing a nine-game road trip coming out of the All-Star break, the Mets will open a six-game homestand against the skidding Padres on Tuesday night.
Kansas City at Atlanta 7:20 PM ET
The Atlanta Braves are in a critical stretch of games against their top two challengers in the National League East, but prior to a road trip to Philadelphia and Washington they host a two-game series starting Tuesday against the Kansas City Royals. After splitting a four-game series with the Nationals last weekend to maintain a 6 1/2-game lead in the East, the Braves hope their deep offense continues rolling against a Royals pitching staff ranked 24th in the majors in ERA (5.00).
Oakland at Houston 8:10 PM ET
Yuli Gurriel and the Houston Astros haven't been shy about taking it to the Oakland Athletics, as the former has gone a robust 16-for-32 at the plate in the season series to help his team win eight of the nine meetings. Gurriel and the Astros aim to maintain their mastery of the visiting Athletics on Tuesday as the American League West rivals continue their three-game series.
Miami at Chi. White Sox 8:10 PM ET
The Chicago White Sox used the long ball to take the series opener and look to stay hot with the bats when they host the Miami Marlins for the second of a three-game interleague series on Tuesday night. The White Sox launched four homers among 10 hits in a 9-1 triumph Monday while improving to 3-1 since losing a season-high seven games in a row following the All-Star break.
Cincinnati at Milwaukee 8:10 PM ET
The Cincinnati Reds' playoff hopes have taken a beating since the All-Star break, although Eugenio Suarez hardly is to blame for that. The Reds hope to build off a dramatic comeback victory thanks in large part to the offense provided by the 2018 All-Star on Tuesday, when they go for a series win in Milwaukee against the Brewers.
NY Yankees at Minnesota 8:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins lead the major leagues in home runs this season, and the club wasn't shy about giving the New York Yankees a taste of their power in the series opener. After launching at least five homers for the eighth time this season, the host Twins aim to secure a series victory when the division-leading clubs reconvene on Tuesday.
Baltimore at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
Adam Jones tormented his former team in the series opener and attempts to follow it up with another strong showing when the Arizona Diamondbacks host the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday for the middle contest of their three-game set. Jones went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Arizona's 6-3 win on Monday to help send his team of the previous 11 seasons to defeat.
Chi. Cubs at San Francisco 9:45 PM ET
The San Francisco Giants have a huge decision to make soon, as they are in the thick of the National League wild-card race as the July 31 trade deadline approaches. Depending on the choice they make, Madison Bumgarner could be making his final start for the Giants when they host the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday for the middle contest of their three-game series.
LA Angels at LA Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers own the best record in the majors and are by far the league's most dominant team at home entering a two-game interleague series against the visiting Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night. Both teams are 7-3 since the All-Star break, but the Dodgers will be looking to avenge a pair of losses at the Angels in the first leg of the Freeway Series.
Texas at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
The Texas Rangers seek to end a season-worst eight-game slide when they visit the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday for the middle contest of their three-game series. The Rangers lost the opener 7-3 and have been outscored 69-26 during their skid to fall to .500 through 100 games.
