July 19, 2019
San Diego at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET
The Chicago Cubs have won five of six contests since the All-Star break while the San Diego Padres have just one victory in the same six-game stretch. The Cubs aim to continue their strong showing on Friday afternoon as they enter the final leg of a nine-game homestand with the opener of a three-game series versus the Padres.
Colorado at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
The Colorado Rockies are in a tailspin and will not be getting any help from the schedule anytime soon. The reeling Rockies begin a challenging 10-game road trip Friday night with their first visit to the Bronx since 2016 to take on the first-place New York Yankees in the opener of a three-game series.
Philadelphia at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
The Philadelphia Phillies have rallied to two wins in their last three contests to salvage a four-game split against the best team in the National League. The Phillies hope that momentum travels well as they head west through the Keystone State to open a three-game series versus the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday.
Boston at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The first week after the All-Star break did not provide the big jump in the standings for which the defending champions were hoping, and the biggest tests are still to come. The Boston Red Sox will try to string some wins together and find the consistency that the 2018 squad featured when they visit the last-place Baltimore Orioles for the opener of a three-game series on Friday.
Chi. White Sox at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays look to shake off a rough end to their series at Yankee Stadium when they start a six-game homestand with the first of three contests against the slumping Chicago White Sox on Friday night. The Rays won the opener of the series at New York in dramatic fashion on Monday before dropping the final three games by a combined score of 19-6, capped by losing both ends of a doubleheader Thursday.
Kansas City at Cleveland 7:10 PM ET
Jose Ramirez appears to have found his swing after a long slump to start the season, and the two-time All Star hopes to stay hot when the Cleveland Indians host the suddenly surging Kansas City Royals in the opener of a three-game set Friday. Ramirez was batting .198 as recently as June 12 but has put together a 10-game hitting streak after belting a homer and knocking in three runs during Cleveland’s 6-3 win over Detroit on Thursday.
St. Louis at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET
Only 2 1/2 games separated the St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds in the National League Central coming out of the All-Star break, but things could not have unfolded much differently for the two division rivals since. The Cardinals hope to continue their second-half surge on Friday when they visit the Reds for the second of four games in Cincinnati.
Toronto at Detroit 7:10 PM ET
Both the Detroit Tigers and the Toronto Blue Jays entered the All-Star break among the worst teams in the American League, and neither club has done much since to shed that label. A pair of struggling squads hope to generate a bit of momentum at the expense of the other beginning Friday when the Blue Jays visit the Tigers in the opener of a three-game set.
Washington at Atlanta 7:20 PM ET
The Washington Nationals have been as hot as any team in baseball the past month, and they enter Friday’s contest at the Atlanta Braves with a ton of momentum after delivering a statement to the National League East leaders in Thursday’s opener of a critical four-game series. The Nationals pulled within 5 1/2 games of the Braves after smashing Atlanta 13-4 in the series opener, getting a 3-for-3 effort and five RBIs from starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg.
Texas at Houston 8:10 PM ET
The slumping Texas Rangers attempt to halt their four-game losing streak when they host the Houston Astros on Friday for the opener of their three-game series. The funk has led to a rise in trade speculation, which has become highly irritating to All-Stars Mike Minor and Hunter Pence.
Oakland at Minnesota 8:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins have been flexing their muscles all year, and they did so again in the series opener in order to halt their season-high three-game slide. Minnesota hopes to continue the power surge when it hosts the Oakland Athletics on Friday for the second contest of their four-game set.
Milwaukee at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers turned it on late in the series opener and maintained their hold on the second wild-card spot in the National League. Milwaukee attempts to make it four wins in a row on Friday, when it visits the Arizona Diamondbacks for the second contest of their four-game set.
Miami at LA Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers raced to the top of the standings in front of the All-Star Game on the strength of the best rotation in the majors but are showing off their offense since coming back from the break. The Dodgers will try to keep the hits coming when they return home to host the Miami Marlins in the opener of a three-game series on Friday.
LA Angels at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels have lost consecutive contests following a five-game winning streak as they begin a three-game series against the host Seattle Mariners on Friday. The Angels are 5 1/2 games back in the race for the second wild-card spot in the American League but are just two above .500 due to their inconsistent nature.
NY Mets at San Francisco 10:15 PM ET
The surging San Francisco Giants look to pull even at .500 for the first time since Opening Day when they continue their four-game series against the visiting New York Mets on Friday. The Giants extended their winning streak to six games after Donovan Solano delivered a walk-off single in Thursday’s 16-inning, 3-2 victory.
