July 16, 2019
Tampa Bay at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays haven't had much success against the New York Yankees with just five wins in 14 meetings this season, but Travis d'Arnaud enjoyed a career night to set the tone in the series opener Monday. The Rays aim to ride the momentum of his three-homer performance on Tuesday in the second contest of the four-game set in the Bronx.
LA Dodgers at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers have answered a four-game skid in which they mustered just seven runs by flexing their muscles to the tune of outscoring their foes 34-8 during their last three contests. The majors-best Dodgers look to remain perfect against the free-falling Phillies on Tuesday when the clubs continue their four-game series in Philadelphia.
Washington at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Washington Nationals have won five consecutive series and can get a leg up on a sixth straight when they visit the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday for the opener of a two-game interleague set. The Nationals have won seven of the last eight meetings in the Beltway Series, including all three at Camden Yards in 2018.
Toronto at Boston 7:10 PM ET
Rafael Devers is enjoying a banner offensive season by just about any measure in 2019, although a disproportionate amount of his production has come at the expense of the Toronto Blue Jays. The 22-year-old third baseman attempts to continue swinging a hot bat versus the Blue Jays on Tuesday, when the Boston Red Sox host the second contest of their four-game series against their American League East rival.
Detroit at Cleveland 7:10 PM ET
Rookie Oscar Mercado broke out of a big slump in the series opener and looks to build off his first career multi-homer performance when the Cleveland Indians host the Detroit Tigers for the second of a four-game set Tuesday night. Mercado was 1-for-25 in July coming into Monday’s contest before going 3-for-5, including the go-ahead solo shot in the seventh inning as the Indians rallied for an 8-6 victory.
San Diego at Miami 7:10 PM ET
The San Diego Padres failed to carry their momentum through the All-Star break and look to begin moving forward again when they open a nine-game road trip Tuesday night with the first of three contests against the Miami Marlins. The Padres won three straight at the major league-best Los Angeles Dodgers before the break to reach .500, but suffered a three-game sweep at home against Atlanta to end last week.
Arizona at Texas 8:05 PM ET
The Texas Rangers are trying to decide what kind of team they plan to be with the trade deadline approaching at the end of the month and are hoping a hot streak makes it an easy decision. The Rangers will try to avoid a third straight loss and stay in the wild card race when they host the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday in the opener of a two-game interleague series.
Cincinnati at Chi. Cubs 8:05 PM ET
The Cincinnati Reds look to continue their strong play against the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday, when they visit their National League Central rivals for the middle contest of their three-game set. The Reds scored five unanswered runs to rally to a 6-3 win in the series opener and improve to 7-3 against Chicago this season.
NY Mets at Minnesota 8:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins picked up a big series win out of the All-Star break and now look to enjoy a nine-game stay at home beginning with the opener of a two-game series with the New York Mets on Tuesday. The Twins saw their lead over Cleveland in the American League Central cut in half over a roughly three-week span but came out of the break by taking two of three from the Indians to restore a 6 1/2-game advantage.
Atlanta at Milwaukee 8:10 PM ET
Freddie Freeman struggled for a bit coming out of the All-Star break, but the Atlanta Braves first baseman looks like he is finding his hitting stroke again entering Tuesday’s contest at the Milwaukee Brewers. One night after breaking a scoreless tie with a three-run homer in a victory at San Diego, Freeman launched his 25th homer – another three-run blast to open the scoring – in the fourth inning of Atlanta’s 4-2 victory over the Brewers in Monday’s series opener.
Pittsburgh at St. Louis 8:15 PM ET
After a less-than-stellar showing by the rotation during the first half of the season, the St. Louis Cardinals' starting pitchers have been downright stingy coming out of the All-Star break. The Cardinals turn to Jack Flaherty on Tuesday with the hope he becomes the latest hurler to stymie an opponent when they host the Pittsburgh Pirates for the second contest of their three-game series.
Chi. White Sox at Kansas City 8:15 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals may not be contending for a playoff berth, but you wouldn't know it by how they've played since returning from the All-Star break. Kansas City looks to improve to 4-1 on its seven-game homestand when it hosts the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday for the second contest of their four-game series.
San Francisco at Colorado 8:40 PM ET
Brandon Crawford enjoyed a big day during a doubleheader sweep and aims for another productive performance when the San Francisco Giants visit the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday. Crawford homered twice and became the first shortstop in major-league history with five hits and eight RBIs in a single game in Monday's opener and added a solo blast in the nightcap.
Houston at LA Angels 10:07 PM ET
Even without superstar Mike Trout in the lineup, the Los Angeles Angels remain on a tear since the All-Star break. Los Angeles aims for its fifth straight victory since the hiatus when it hosts the American League West-leading Houston Astros on Tuesday for the second contest of their four-game series.
Seattle at Oakland 10:07 PM ET
The surging Oakland Athletics are one of the hottest teams in baseball and are fortifying their roster in front of the trade deadline with a postseason spot the goal. The Athletics will try to stay hot when they host the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday in the opener of a two-game series.
