Toronto at NY Yankees 1:05 PM ET
Edwin Encarnacion has been mired in a dreadful slump since he was acquired by the New York Yankees last month, but the sight of one of his former teams helped the slugger snap out of his funk. The Yankees can extend their undefeated series streak to nine in a row when they host the Toronto Blue Jays in the second of a three-game set on Saturday afternoon.
Tampa Bay at Baltimore 1:05 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays have their sights set on a playoff appearance and began the second half in fine form by jumping on top early and blowing out the Baltimore Orioles. The Rays will try to continue taking advantage of the American League-worst Orioles when they visit for a day-night doubleheader on Saturday.
Pittsburgh at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET
Slugger Kris Bryant told reporters the All-Star break was a perfect chance to push the reset button on the season for the struggling Chicago Cubs, and they responded with a 4-3 victory in their return to the field on Friday. The first-place Cubs, who lost five of seven games before the break, look to seal a series victory Saturday afternoon when they host the National League Central-rival Pittsburgh Pirates.
Chi. White Sox at Oakland 4:07 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics have gone nearly a month without losing a series as they continue their chase for a postseason berth. They attempt to improve to 6-0-1 in their last seven sets when they host the Chicago White Sox on Saturday for the middle contest of their three-game series.
NY Mets at Miami 6:10 PM ET
Hours after New York Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen told reporters that he has "low expectations" for the rest of the year, his team did nothing to change that narrative. After dropping the series opener in Miami on Friday, the Mets will attempt to end a four-game losing streak against the Marlins when the teams resume their three-game set on Saturday night.
Tampa Bay at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays have their sights set on a playoff appearance and began the second half in fine form by jumping on top early and blowing out the Baltimore Orioles. The Rays will try to continue taking advantage of the American League-worst Orioles when they visit for a day-night doubleheader on Saturday.
Minnesota at Cleveland 7:10 PM ET
The first-place Minnesota Twins look to add more breathing room in the American League Central race when they visit the Cleveland Indians on Saturday night for the second of a three-game set. The Twins rallied with three runs in the seventh inning - keyed by Jorge Polanco’s two-run double - for a 5-3 victory to extend their division lead over the Indians to 6 1/2 games.
Arizona at St. Louis 7:15 PM ET
Many key members of the Arizona Diamondbacks have seen their names thrown about in trade rumors, but the club is giving every indication it is a contender in the National League wild-card race. The Diamondbacks will try to match their longest winning streak of the season when they continue their three-game series against the host St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday.
LA Dodgers at Boston 7:15 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox picked up right where they left off against the Los Angeles Dodgers and are hoping to use a quick start to the second half as a springboard up the standings. The Red Sox will try to clinch a series win in the World Series rematch when they host the Dodgers in the second of a three-game interleague set on Saturday.
Detroit at Kansas City 7:15 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers showed plenty of fight in their first contest after the All-Star break but were unable to keep their losing streak from reaching four games. Detroit looks to halt the slide when it visits the Kansas City Royals on Saturday for the middle contest of their three-game series.
Washington at Philadelphia 7:15 PM ET
Bryce Harper's decision to leave the only team he had ever played with this past offseason for the Philadelphia Phillies looked like a smart move when the Washington Nationals began the season 19-31. However, his Phillies will be looking up in the win column at their National League rival for the first time all season when they take the field for the second of three games in Philadelphia on Saturday when they host the red-hot Nationals.
San Francisco at Milwaukee 7:15 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers stumbled into the All-Star break and opened the second half of the season with a difficult loss. They'll try to snap out of their funk when they play the middle contest of their three-game series against the visiting San Francisco Giants on Saturday.
Houston at Texas 8:05 PM ET
The Texas Rangers may not have entered the All-Star break quite like they wanted, but they couldn't have asked for a much better start to the second half. The Rangers set their sights on a series win and a fifth consecutive home victory over the Houston Astros on Saturday when the American League West rivals meet for the third of four games.
Cincinnati at Colorado 8:10 PM ET
Kyle Freeland returns to the major leagues on Saturday and hopes to begin a turnaround when the Colorado Rockies host the Cincinnati Reds for the middle contest of their three-game series. Freeland, a 17-game winner last season, went 2-6 with a 7.13 ERA in 12 starts this season before being demoted to Triple-A Albuquerque six weeks ago.
Atlanta at San Diego 8:40 PM ET
Petco Park has not been kind to the Atlanta Braves since 2012, but they can take another step toward reversing the trend Saturday when they continue their three-game series against the San Diego Padres. Josh Donaldson had two homers and four RBIs in Friday’s 5-3 win as Atlanta opened the second half with an impressive showing against the Padres, who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end.
Seattle at LA Angels 9:07 PM ET
Mike Trout put on a show in the series opener and he looks to torment Seattle again when the Los Angeles Angels host the Mariners on Saturday for the middle contest of their three-game set. Trout hit his American League-leading 29th homer, doubled twice and drove in six runs as the Angels rolled to a 13-0 victory in which Taylor Cole and Felix Pena combined on a no-hitter.
