Chi. Cubs at Washington 7:05 PM ET
The Washington Nationals will try to build upon their first series win in a month when they begin a three-game set with the visiting Chicago Cubs on Friday. After dropping the opener of a series against the New York Mets to begin their six-game homestand, the Nationals recovered with back-to-back victories for the first time since April 17-18.
Tampa Bay at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
The New York Yankees took two of three at the Tampa Bay Rays last weekend to put some pressure on the American League East leaders and then spent the week sitting out the rain before sweeping a doubleheader from the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. The Yankees will try to move into the top spot in the East when they host the Rays in the opener of a three-game series Friday.
Colorado at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
The Colorado Rockies haven't been shy about adding to the workload of the scoreboard operator, erupting for 47 runs in their last six contests. The Rockies hope their high-octane offense remains in gear on Friday as they continue their eight-game road trip with the opener of a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies, who are mired in a season high-tying three-game skid.
Houston at Boston 7:10 PM ET
The Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox took turns knocking each other off in the playoffs en route to a World Series title the last two seasons, and both teams look primed for deep runs again in 2019. The teams will meet for the first time this regular season when the Astros visit the Red Sox in the opener of a three-game series Friday.
Baltimore at Cleveland 7:10 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians opened a season-long, 11-game homestand with an offensive show and look to remain hot with the bats when they host the American League-worst Baltimore Orioles for the second of a four-game set Friday. The Indians ended their last road trip by scoring nine times against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday before pounding the Orioles 14-7 one day later as Jason Kipnis homered twice and knocked in six runs.
NY Mets at Miami 7:10 PM ET
Reigning National League Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom went more than five weeks between victories, with both of them coming at the expense of the Miami Marlins. DeGrom will look to beat the major league-worst Marlins for the third time in as many attempts when he takes the mound for the New York Mets in the opener of a three-game set in Miami on Friday night.
LA Dodgers at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers typically have been synonymous with quality starting pitching through their franchise's history, and this year's club seems primed to add to that reputation with its recent efforts. The Dodgers' rotation should have a chance to prove themselves yet again on Friday, when the team begins a three-game series against the host Cincinnati Reds and their middling offense.
Oakland at Detroit 7:10 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics have been dreadful on the road this season but a visit to Comerica Park and a matchup with the Detroit Tigers again proved to be a perfect tonic. The Athletics stomped the Tigers in the series opener and will look to extend their winning streak in the series to 14 in a row when the teams resume their four-game set Friday night in Detroit.
Milwaukee at Atlanta 7:20 PM ET
Christian Yelich has inflicted most of his damage on opposing pitchers at home this season, but the Milwaukee Brewers outfielder seeks to build off a big road performance entering Friday’s series opener at the Atlanta Braves. The reigning National League MVP homered twice in Thursday’s 11-3 victory at Philadelphia, giving him a major league-leading 18 with only three of them coming on the road in 2019.
St. Louis at Texas 8:05 PM ET
The Texas Rangers won their last two games by a cumulative 22-2 score and look to continue the onslaught when they open a three-game interleague series against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals on Friday. Texas slugged five homers during a 21-hit assault on Thursday as it rolled to a 16-1 victory in Kansas City.
Toronto at Chi. White Sox 8:10 PM ET
After enjoying their only scheduled day off this month, the Chicago White Sox began a stretch of 18 consecutive days with a game in winning fashion. They look to post their fifth victory in six overall contests when they continue their four-game home series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.
San Francisco at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
The Arizona Diamondbacks will try to put their struggles at home behind them when they host the San Francisco Giants on Friday in the opener of a three-game series. Arizona is 3-4 on its 10-game homestand and 10-11 at Chase Field this season after winning two of three from Pittsburgh and dropping three of four to Atlanta prior to meeting San Francisco for the first time this season.
Kansas City at LA Angels 10:07 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels began their nine-game road trip with a flourish, scoring 36 runs to win four of the first five contests before surrendering 21 to lose three of their last four. The Angels look to regain their footing on Friday when they begin a nine-game homestand with the opener of a three-game series versus the Kansas City Royals, who are an American League-worst 5-14 on the road.
Pittsburgh at San Diego 10:10 PM ET
Ian Kinsler has been a major disappointment in his first season with the San Diego Padres. But the veteran second baseman delivered the game-winning three-run homer in the series opener and will look to be productive again on Friday, when the Padres host the Pittsburgh Pirates for the second contest of their four-game set.
Minnesota at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
The Seattle Mariners are the top power-hitting team in the league, but the Minnesota Twins proved in the series opener that they can slug it out with the best of them. The Twins aim for their fourth consecutive victory when they continue their four-game set against the host Mariners on Friday.
