Preview Roundups
May 04, 2019
Minnesota at NY Yankees 1:05 PM ET
Despite another potential key addition to their list of walking wounded, the New York Yankees kicked off a seven-game homestand by beating up on one of their favorite opponents. After easing to a 6-3 victory in the series opener, New York will go for their ninth consecutive victory over the Minnesota Twins at Yankee Stadium on Saturday afternoon in the second of a three-game set.
St. Louis at Chi. Cubs 4:05 PM ET

The Chicago Cubs have surged in the National League Central over the past three weeks in large part because of excellent starting pitching. The Cubs will look to Yu Darvish to try to continue their streak of shutouts when they host the St. Louis Cardinals in the second of a three-game series Saturday.

Seattle at Cleveland 4:10 PM ET
The Seattle Mariners owned the best record in the majors just over three weeks ago with 13 victories in their first 15 games while averaging almost eight runs per outing, but that seems like a distant memory at the moment. The Mariners are 5-14 since and look to halt a five-game losing streak to begin turning things around when they visit the Cleveland Indians on Saturday afternoon.
Kansas City at Detroit 4:10 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers have a chance to make a move up in standings with a favorable portion of their schedule featuring a slew of opponents with losing records and 16 of their next 26 games at home, beginning with this weekend's series versus the Kansas City Royals. After taking the series opener, Detroit can reach the .500 mark Saturday when it continues a three-game set versus the Royals.
Atlanta at Miami 6:10 PM ET
Josh Donaldson sat out three games for precautionary reasons with a sore right calf, but he made up for lost time by putting the Atlanta Braves in position to win their weekend series at the Miami Marlins on Saturday. Donaldson went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs in Friday’s opener, giving the third baseman at least one extra base hit in 12 of his past 21 games - seven of his past 11 hits have been for extra bases - as Atlanta won for the fourth time in six games.
Oakland at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics ended their longest losing streak of the season with an impressive display at the plate, and they'll try to build off the breakout performance when they continue a three-game series at the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday. Josh Phegley had four hits and drove in eight runs - a club record for a catcher -- to pace a season-high 16-hit attack in Friday's 14-1 win for the Athletics, who had dropped six in a row entering the interleague set.
Tampa Bay at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles lead the majors in runs allowed (207) and home runs (75) surrendered, and their pitching is not showing any signs of improvement. The Orioles will try to bounce back from another lopsided defeat and even the three-game series at one win apiece when they host the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday.
Washington at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
Slugger Rhys Hoskins will try to keep his hot streak going when he leads the Philadelphia Phillies into the second game of a three-game series with the visiting Washington Nationals on Saturday. Hoskins clubbed a go-ahead three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift the Phillies to a 4-2 win in the series opener Friday night.
Boston at Chi. White Sox 7:10 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox won a start by Chris Sale for the first time this season on Friday and slowly are starting to look like the team that won the World Series last year. The Red Sox will try to register their fifth win in six games and take the lead in the four-game series when they visit the Chicago White Sox on Saturday.
Houston at LA Angels 7:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels look to continue their resurgence south of the border Saturday night when they begin a two-game series against the Houston Astros at Estadio de Beisbol Monterrey in Mexico. The Angels have won six of their last seven contests after a sweeping three from Toronto and Albert Pujols is two RBIs from becoming the fourth player in major league history with 2,000 as they begin a stretch of 11 away games.
San Francisco at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET
Prized prospect Nick Senzel reached base three times in his major-league debut and looks to build off that effort when the Cincinnati Reds host the San Francisco Giants on Saturday for the second contest of their four-game series. The 23-year-old Senzel recorded an infield hit in five at-bats and also walked twice, but the Reds let an eight-run lead get away on Friday and lost 12-11 in 11 innings.
NY Mets at Milwaukee 7:10 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers have been without the services of the reigning National League MVP for nearly a week, but Christian Yelich's absence hasn't prevented them from hitting for power - especially at home. The Brewers attempt to inch one step closer to tying a major-league record on Saturday, when they host the New York Mets for the middle contest of their three-game series.
Toronto at Texas 8:05 PM ET
Victories have been elusive for the Texas Rangers during their five-game homestand, which has begun with three consecutive losses. The Rangers take another shot at a win when they host the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday for the middle contest of their three-game series.
Arizona at Colorado 8:10 PM ET
Ketel Marte is on track to bury his previous season-best mark for homers and the Arizona infielder-outfielder looks to clear the fence again when the Diamondbacks visit the Colorado Rockies on Saturday in the middle contest of a three-game set. The switch-hitting Marte raised his season count to nine when he homered from both sides of the plate for the third time this season as Arizona prevailed in a 10-9 slugfest in the series opener.
LA Dodgers at San Diego 8:40 PM ET
Even in defeat, the San Diego Padres are showing why they could be a contender in the National League West for years to come. After falling by a run in the series opener, the Padres continue their three-game set against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday.
