St. Louis at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET

There’s always a little extra tension when the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals square off, and especially when the National League Central lead hangs in the balance. The Cubs host the first-place Cardinals for a three-game set starting Friday with both teams looking to continue their recent hot streaks.

Minnesota at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
The Central Division-leading Minnesota Twins own the best record in the American League and are coming off a 6-1 homestand, but they will be entering their personal house of horrors when they open a three-game series at Yankee Stadium on Friday night. Minnesota has been dominated by the New York Yankees in the Bronx, losing 50 of 64 meetings (playoffs included) since 2002.
Oakland at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics are not having much fun on their road trip with losses in each of the first six games. The Athletics dropped to 4-11 away from home with a loss at Boston on Wednesday and will try to snap the slide when they visit the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday for the opener of a three-game interleague series.
Tampa Bay at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays haven't faced an opponent that currently boasts a winning record in over a month, making it even more important they beat the teams they should before that stretch comes to an end next week. The Rays hope to get back to .500 over their last 14 games following a brilliant start to the season beginning Friday when they visit Baltimore for the first of three against the Orioles.
Washington at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
The Philadelphia Phillies have registered wins in four of their last five to ascend to the top of the congested National League East while the injury-riddled Washington Nationals have dropped off the pace. Bryce Harper and the Phillies will look to add to the Nationals' woes on Friday when the teams open a three-game series in Philadelphia.
Seattle at Cleveland 7:10 PM ET
The Seattle Mariners' pitching staff spent most of the past week getting bludgeoned by the Texas Rangers and the Chicago Cubs without receiving much help from the offense. The Mariners will try to turn things around on the road when they begin a 10-game road trip by visiting the Cleveland Indians on Friday.
Atlanta at Miami 7:10 PM ET
The Atlanta Braves are midway through a stretch of 20 games in 20 days, and head to Miami for Friday’s series opener against the Marlins looking to regain their early-season form. Since winning nine of 12 in early April the Braves have struggled, falling for the 10th time in 16 games with Thursday’s 11-2 drubbing by San Diego, and in the past 10 games the team that led the National League in hitting with runners in scoring position a season ago is batting .149 in those situations.
San Francisco at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET
The San Francisco Giants and Cincinnati Reds will provide a glimpse into the future on Friday when they open their four-game series at Great American Ball Park.  The visiting Giants are expected to reach out to Triple-A Sacramento to call up former first-round draft pick Tyler Beede for his season debut against a Reds club that reportedly will promote celebrated prospect Nick Senzel.
Kansas City at Detroit 7:10 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers have been sliding backward in the American League Central Division since an 8-4 start to the year but hope to get back on track when they open a six-game homestand with the first of three versus the Kansas City Royals on Friday night. The Tigers opened an eight-game road trip with a doubleheader sweep in Boston before dropping five of their last six.
Toronto at Texas 8:05 PM ET
The Toronto Blue Jays hope to fare much better on the second half of their six-game road trip when they visit the Texas Rangers on Friday for the opener of their three-game set. Toronto was swept by the Los Angeles Angels before departing for Arlington, Texas, where they were to arrive in the wee hours.
Boston at Chi. White Sox 8:10 PM ET
Ace Chris Sale is as perplexed as anyone after going winless in six starts, but perhaps a return to his old haunts will make things right when the Boston Red Sox visit the Chicago White Sox on Friday for the second contest of their four-game series. Sale, who spent his first seven seasons with the White Sox, entered 2019 with a 19-7 record and 2.82 ERA in March/April but has shown only glimpses of that form this season.
NY Mets at Milwaukee 8:10 PM ET
With its offense not doing much toward the end of a just-completed 10-game homestand, the New York Mets' pitching staff played a critical role in the team breaking even. Steven Matz will attempt to follow a brilliant effort from teammate Noah Syndergaard on Friday when the Mets begin a six-game road trip with the first of three in Milwaukee against the Brewers.
Arizona at Colorado 8:40 PM ET
Nolan Arenado's bat is scorching hot and he looks to continue his tear when the Colorado Rockies open a three-game series against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday. Arenado has three homers over the past two games with Colorado scoring a season-high 11 in each while beating the Milwaukee Brewers.
LA Dodgers at San Diego 10:10 PM ET
The San Diego Padres are coming off their best offensive performance of the season but will find themselves facing nemesis Clayton Kershaw on Friday when they host the Los Angeles Dodgers in the opener of a three-game set. Kershaw has limited San Diego batters to a collective .188 average while going 18-6 with a 1.90 ERA in 34 career starts.
