Boston scored only nine runs in losing three of four to Oakland early this month but have outscored the A's 14-5 in the past two nights.
Tampa Bay at Kansas City 1:15 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays own the best record in baseball as the calendar turns to May and look to add two more victories when they visit the struggling Kansas City Royals for a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon. NY Yankees at Arizona 3:40 PM ET
The Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday afternoon try for a two-game interleague series sweep of the visiting New York Yankees, who haven't lost consecutive games during a 12-4 run. St. Louis at Washington 7:05 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals finished April with a flourish, emerging victorious in nine of their last 10 games to lead the National League in both wins (19) and run differential (32). The Cardinals look to continue their success in the new month on Wednesday when they play the third contest of a four-game series against the host Washington Nationals.
Detroit at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers answered striking out a majors high-tying 20 times in a nine-inning game by striking a blow with just enough offense in their last contest. The Tigers look to complete a sweep of their two-game interleague series with the Phillies on Wednesday in Philadelphia.
Cleveland at Miami 7:10 PM ET
Carlos Gonzalez is beginning to show that he could be a big addition, and the veteran outfielder looks to continue producing when the Cleveland Indians go for a sweep of their two-game interleague series at the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. Gonzalez had a pair of multi-hit games in the previous series and belted a go-ahead three-run homer Tuesday to help the Indians record a 7-4 victory.
Cincinnati at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
While talk of winning back-to-back Cy Young Awards one week into the season was obviously premature, it just pointed out how good New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom was in his first two starts. However, deGrom is now mired in a three-start losing streak that he will try to halt when New York resumes a four-game set against the visiting Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday night.
San Diego at Atlanta 7:20 PM ET
The San Diego Padres enter Wednesday’s third game of a four-game set at the Atlanta Braves having lost one of their bright young stars, but saw another key piece of their future step up in a big way in Tuesday’s 4-3 victory. Right fielder Franmil Reyes slugged two homers and added a double in finishing 3-for-4 with three RBIs, helping to take away some of the sting from the team placing shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. on the injured list with a hamstring injury.

Jesus Aguilar and the Milwaukee Brewers will try to maintain their recent dominance of the visiting Colorado Rockies when the teams continue a four-game series Wednesday night. LA Dodgers at San Francisco 9:45 PM ET
Rookie outfielder Alex Verdugo could find himself in the starting lineup Wednesday, when the Los Angeles Dodgers visit the San Francisco Giants for the rubber match of their three-game series.
