J.T. Miller scored a pair of power-play goals while Bo Horvat and Elias Pettersson both scored once in three-point outings as the host Vancouver Canucks beat the Dallas Stars 6-3 on Sunday.

Vasily Podkolzin and Brock Boeser also scored for the Canucks, while goaltender Thatcher Demko made 25 saves. Quinn Hughes collected three assists.

Joe Pavelski, Luke Glendening and Ryan Suter scored for the Stars, who have one win in six outings. Goalie Anton Khudobin stopped 30 shots.

Pavelski's power-play goal opened the scoring, the league-leading 10th time the Canucks had surrendered the first goal in a game, at the 13:35 mark. Pavelski was set up at the far post and redirected Jason Robertson's cross-ice pass for his third goal of the season.

Miller responded with a power-play goal of his own, which snapped Vancouver's 0-for-18 slump with the man-advantage, by burying a short-side wrist shot 139 seconds into the second period for his fourth goal of the season.

Pettersson put the hosts ahead with another power-play goal at 6:37 of the frame, his first goal in 10 games, by burying a shot from the high slot off the post and into the cage.

Horvat made it a 3-1 game 93 seconds later with his fifth goal of the year, by crashing the crease and burying a rebound. However Glendening made it a one-goal game 88 seconds after that when he cut to the slot and buried a golden chance.

Podkolzin again put the Canucks up by a pair when he ripped a bullet of a one-timer with 4:15 left in the second period, but Suter scored by tipping a point shot for another power-play goal at 3:23 into the third period to again pull the Stars within a goal.

However, Miller's second man-advantage marker of the game, a one-timer from the right circle, with 6:16 left in the game put the Canucks back up by two, and Boeser's empty-net goal rounded out the scoring.
