Nathan MacKinnon scored with 1:57 left in overtime, and Andre Burakovsky had two goals and added one assist to lead the Colorado Avalanche to a 5-4 win over the Florida Panthers on Friday night in Sunrise, Fla.

Jonathan Huberdeau scored twice for the Panthers, tying his career high with eight shots on goal.

Colorado's other goals were scored by Matt Nieto and Joonas Donskoi.

Avalanche goalie Philipp Grubauer made 40 saves -- many of them spectacular. Colorado has yet to lose in regulation this season.

Sergei Bobrovsky made 36 saves for the Panthers, who also got goals from Brett Connolly and Frank Vatrano (short-handed).

After scoring just two first-period goals in their first six games, the Panthers enjoyed an offensive outburst early in the Friday contest.

With just 3:32 expired, Huberdeau's wrist shot from the left circle trickled in off Grubauer's glove. Defenseman MacKenzie Weegar earned the primary assist with a nice lead pass to Huberdeau.

Five minutes later, with Panthers defenseman Josh Brown serving a double minor for high-sticking Matt Calvert, Denis Malgin's pass sprung Vatrano for his first goal of the season.

With 10:57 expired in the first period, Colorado cut its deficit to 2-1 on a goal made possible because Bobrovsky took a puck off his helmet. Seconds later, Ian Cole fired from the post, and Donskoi deposited the rebound at a bad angle along the goal line.

Huberdeau ended the first-period scoring when his shot with 5:03 left went in off of Grubauer's stick. Aleksander Barkov worked a give-and-go with Huberdeau to earn the primary assist.

Midway through the second period, the Avalanche tied the score 3-3 with two goals in a span of 32 seconds.

The first goal happened after a turnover in his own end by Panthers defenseman Keith Yandle. Pierre-Edouard Bellemare scooped up the loose puck, skated behind the Florida net and threaded a soft pass to Nieto, who lifted the puck over Bobrovsky's stick.

Then, the Avalanche hammered Barkov in the Florida end, leading to a breakout. Burakovsky capped the play by firing over Bobrovsky's glove.

Two minutes later, the Panthers came right back, taking a 4-3 lead on Connolly's goal in transition with 14:05 gone in the second period. Anton Stralman's lead pass got Connolly going.

But Colorado tied the score 4-4 just 16 seconds later on Burakovsky's rebound of a Donskoi shot.
