Defenseman Brady Skjei collected a goal and an assist to lift the visiting Carolina Hurricanes to a 4-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday.

Teuvo Teravainen and Sebastian Aho also scored during Carolina's three-goal second period and Seth Jarvis found the empty net in the third.

Spencer Martin, who made 20 saves on Thursday, has stopped 119 of 129 shots to improve to 4-0-1 since being claimed off waivers from the Blue Jackets on Jan. 19.

Captain Jordan Staal won 14 of 17 faceoff draws for the Hurricanes, who improved to 4-0-1 in their last five road games and 6-1-1 in their last eight contests overall.

Columbus' Alexander Nylander recorded a goal and an assist in his third game since being acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins last Thursday.

Cole Sillinger scored his second goal in as many days and Daniil Tarasov turned aside 28 shots for the Blue Jackets, who have lost six of their last nine games.

Columbus defenseman Damon Severson batted the puck out of the air into the slot for Teravainen, who kicked it to his stick and wristed a shot past Tarasov to open the scoring at 53 seconds into the second period. Teravainen's goal was his 18th of the season and first since Feb. 16.

Aho gave the Hurricanes a 2-0 lead at 8:19 of the second period with his team-leading 23rd goal of the season. His attempted backdoor feed to Skjei from near the right-wing boards caromed off the skate of Blue Jackets defenseman Andrew Peeke and past Tarasov.

Sillinger converted defenseman Zach Werenski's feed to halve the deficit at 9:56 of the second period with his 10th goal of the season. Skjei, however, regained Carolina's two-goal cushion just over 6 1/2 minutes later.

Skjei fended off Columbus defenseman Ivan Provorov and used one arm to tuck the puck between the pads of Tarasov for his eighth goal of the season.

With his team on the power play, Nylander countered at 8:39 of the third period after wiring a shot from the point that sailed past Martin.
