Stefan Noesen scored the go-ahead goal with 8:58 remaining in the third period and the Carolina Hurricanes held on for a 3-2 win over the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night in Saint Paul, Minn.

Jordan Staal finished with a goal and an assist for Carolina, which snapped a two-game skid. Andrei Svechnikov also scored.

Connor Dewar and Jonas Brodin scored for Minnesota. Ryan Hartman collected two assists for the Wild, who won their previous two games.

Hurricanes goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 28 of 30 shots to earn the victory.

Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson turned aside 25 of 28 shots but took the loss.

Minnesota opened the scoring 10:10 into the first period. Declan Chisholm zipped a pass toward the slot for Dewar, who settled the puck and turned to his forehand before firing a wrist shot for his eighth goal of the season.

Carolina evened the score at 1-1 with 4:34 remaining in the first period. Jaccob Slavin fired a one-timer from near the blue line that did not make it through traffic in front of the net, but Staal spotted the loose puck and punched it in for his eighth goal of the season.

The Wild regained a 2-1 edge with 21 seconds to go in the first period. Brodin scored his sixth goal of the season when he flipped a wobbly puck toward the net and it fluttered over the right shoulder of Kochetkov, who was screened as he tried to track the shot through players in front of the crease.

Minnesota remained on top until the final minute of the second period when the Hurricanes pulled even at 2-2 with 25 seconds left. Staal slid a pass to Seth Jarvis, who quickly sent a pass to Svechnikov near the right side of the crease.

Svechnikov capitalized with a low shot for his 13th goal of the season. It was the 125th goal of his career and moved him within one point of reaching 300 for his career.

Noesen put Carolina on top for good with his 13th goal. Teammate Jack Drury fired a shot at Gustavsson, and the rebound deflected off Noesen and into the net.
