Quinn Hughes collected a goal and four assists and Brock Boeser scored twice and added an assist as the Vancouver Canucks handed the San Jose Sharks their most lopsided home loss in team history with a 10-1 victory Thursday night.

J.T. Miller scored once and added two assists, while Anthony Beauvillier tallied twice and Sam Lafferty and Andrei Kuzmenko collected one goal and one assist. Ilya Mikheyev and Pius Suter each netted a goal. Thatcher Demko made 30 saves for the Canucks, who have won five of their last six games.

Elias Pettersson collected three assists, and Hughes tied the franchise record for most points by a defenseman in a game, set by Jeff Brown on Feb. 20, 1995.

The Sharks had previously lost by eight goals at home on three occasions. Fabian Zetterlund found the net for the Sharks, who have scored only 10 goals all season. Starting goalie Kaapo Kahkonen stopped 13 shots before being pulled after surrendering the sixth goal. Mackenzie Blackwood made 10 saves in relief for the Sharks (0-9-1), who sit last in the NHL.

The Canucks stormed out of the blocks with a pair of power-play goals. Boeser opened the scoring at the 2:23 mark when he unloaded a one-timer from the left circle, and Miller scored for the fourth consecutive game to double the lead by sliding home a backhand for his sixth of the season at 4:00.

Hughes made it a 3-0 count with his fourth goal of the season, a long wrist shot through the screen, at 8:00. Before the opening period was finished, Boeser netted his second power-play goal, and eighth tally of the season, when he batted a loose puck out of the air.

The beatdown continued. Mikheyev's third goal of the season 63 seconds into the second period came when he converted a cross-ice feed, and Kuzmenko extended the lead at 8:47 when he shot on a two-on-one rush for his third of the season.

Lafferty notched his third of the season four minutes later by converting a wraparound opportunity, and Suter's tally with 2:34 remaining in the second period made it 8-0.

In his 500th career game, Beauvillier netted Vancouver's ninth goal at 3:10 of the third when he blasted a one-timer. He then scored his second goal of the season by snapping a top-corner shot with eight minutes remaining.

Zetterlund spoiled Demko's shutout bid with a late power-play goal.
