Jacob Markstrom stopped 28 shots for his league-leading eighth shutout of the season as the Calgary Flames cruised to a 6-0 victory over the visiting Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday night.

Andrew Mangiapane scored two goals and Mikael Backlund had a goal and three assists for the Flames, who have won four games in a row and six of their past seven.

Matthew Tkachuk contributed a goal and two assists, Johnny Gaudreau and Elias Lindholm also scored goals and Noah Hanifin chipped in with two assists.

Markstrom, a 32-year-old veteran playing his 12th season in the NHL, entered the season with just eight shutouts in his career. He now has double the number of shutouts this season as the goalies with the second most in the league, the New York Islanders' Ilya Sorokin and the Toronto Maple Leafs' Jack Campbell.

Robin Lehner finished with 27 saves for Vegas, which had a three-game winning streak snapped. It was the third time the Pacific Division-leading Golden Knights were shut out this season.

Vegas, which was playing the second game of a back-to-back that began with a 4-0 win at Edmonton on Tuesday, got outshot 14-5 while falling behind 3-0 in the first period.

Gaudreau started the scoring at the 5:03 mark when he finished a give-and-go with Tkachuk, who was stationed by the right side of the goal. Gaudreau roofed a wrist shot from the low slot past Lehner's blocker side for his 19th goal of the season.

Backlund made it 2-0 at 12:24 with his seventh goal of the season, shooting from the left point past a Milan Lucic screen and inside the right post.

Lindholm followed with his 16th goal of the campaign at 15:06. He fired a wrist shot around defenseman Alex Pietrangelo from the high slot past Lehner's blocker side to give the Flames goals on back-to-back shots.

Mangiapane increased Calgary's lead to 4-0 at the 6:57 mark of the second period, one-timing a Backlund pass from the slot past Lehner's glove side.

Tkachuk made it 5-0 at 3:09 of the third period with a highlight-reel goal. He took Backland's behind-the-net pass near the right post and then beat Lehner with a between-the-legs shot for his 21st goal of the season.

Mangiapane concluded the scoring with a power-play goal with 4:16 to go. He completed his ninth career two-goal game with his team-best 22nd goal of the season.
