Patrik Laine, Gustav Nyquist and Emil Bemstrom each had a goal and assist as the Columbus Blue Jackets edged the visiting St. Louis Blues 5-4 Saturday.
Jakub Voracek and Sean Kuraly also scored for the Blue Jackets, and Oliver Bjorkstrand and Eric Robinson had two assists.
Elvis Merzlikins stopped 19-of-21 shots for Columbus before exiting with an injury with 13:54 left. Joonas Korpisalo replaced him and allowed two goals on seven shots.
Laine has 19 goals and 14 assists in his last 23 games.
David Perron scored a hat trick for the Blues while extending his goal-scoring streak to six games. He has nine goals and two assists during that span.
Alexei Toropchenko also scored for the Blues, and Brayden Schenn and Torey Krug had two assists. Ville Husso allowed five goals on 27 shots.
The Blue Jackets scored first when Robinson turned an offensive zone steal into a point-blank shot for Bemstrom 3:22 into the game.
The Blues tied the game 1-1 with 7:24 left in the period on a power play. Schenn carried the puck down the middle and fed Perron on the right wing.
Columbus countered with a power-play goal to move ahead 2-1 with 4:46 left in the period. Laine cut through the right circle and passed to Nyquist for his weak-side conversion.
Nyquist and Laine struck again 3:52 into the second period to push the lead to 3-1. Nyquist came down the middle and set up Laine's right-wing snap shot.
The Blues cut their deficit to 3-2 about 2 1/2 minutes later. Toropchenko backhanded the rebound of Justin Faulk's shot for his first NHL goal.
Kuraly made it 4-2 with 13:01 left by scoring from the near slot off Robinson's centering pass, but Perron countered with a power-play goal 64 seconds later.
Voracek curled from the left circle into the slot to score and put Columbus up 5-3 with 7:34 left. With the Blues playing 6-on-5 with Husso off for an extra attacker, Perron scored to cut the lead to 5-4.
