Tomas Hertl's wraparound goal in overtime gave the San Jose Sharks a 4-3 comeback victory over the host Los Angeles Kings on Thursday.

Down 3-1 midway through the second period, the Sharks scored the game's next three goals to snap a three-game losing streak (0-2-1).

Hertl ended his five-game points drought with a goal and an assist. In the extra frame, Hertl made a great individual effort in taking the puck around the net and pulling goalie Jonathan Quick out of position, allowing Hertl plenty of room to deposit his 23rd goal of the season.

San Jose's Alexander Barabanov and Brent Burns also had a goal and an assist apiece. Nick Bonino scored the Sharks' other goal. Defenseman Erik Karlsson tallied two assists in his return to the ice, having missed the previous 15 games due to left forearm surgery.

Sharks rookie goalie Zach Sawchenko saved 33 of 36 shots for his first NHL win. He was making his sixth appearance and second start.

The Kings saw their three-game winning streak end.

Trevor Moore had a goal and two assists for the Kings, who lost for the first time this season (9-0-1) when Moore had a multi-point performance.

Phillip Danault and Andreas Athanasiou each had a goal and an assist for Los Angeles. Quick finished with 26 saves.

The Sharks capitalized on some Los Angeles penalty trouble, as San Jose went 2-for-6 on the power play with goals from Burns and Bonino. However, the San Jose power-play unit also gave a goal back on Moore's short-handed effort at 10:40 of the second period.

San Jose allowed seven short-handed goals this season, one of the highest totals in the NHL.

Burns put San Jose on the board just 2:39 into the game, but the Kings quickly gained the lead on one of the fastest pairs of goals in franchise history. Danault and Athanasiou scored eight seconds apart to put the Kings ahead by the 6:06 mark of the opening period.

Ralph Backstrom scored two goals in a six-second span for the Kings against the Boston Bruins on Nov. 2, 1972.
