Dylan Larkin scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead the host Detroit Red Wings to a 3-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night in the 600th meeting between the two Original Six teams.

Larkin banked in a rebound of a Lucas Raymond shot off the leg pad of goaltender Sam Montembeault from below the goal line in the left corner at the 1:41 mark of overtime to give the Red Wings their fourth win in five games.

Pius Suter also scored for Detroit, and Alex Nedeljkovic made 35 saves to win his third consecutive start. It was the final regular-season meeting between the two teams, with Montreal claiming the series 2-1.

For Montreal, Chris Wideman had a goal and an assist and Ryan Poehling also scored Saturday. Montembeault, summoned late in the first period after a collision in the goal mouth between starter Jake Allen and Larkin, finished with 22 saves. Allen stopped all eight shots he faced.

Montreal took a 1-0 lead at the 4:39 mark of the first period on Poehling's first goal of the season, a wrist shot from the right faceoff that got through the legs of defenseman Marc Staal and inside the far post.

Detroit took a 2-1 lead early in the second period with two goals in the span of 45 seconds. Larkin got the first on a sharp angle shot from just above the goal line in the left corner that went over Montembeault's right shoulder and inside the far post for his fifth goal of the season.

Suter followed with his fourth goal of the season when he took a pass from Robby Fabbri at the top of the slot and rifled a wrist shot past Montembeault's glove side.

Montreal tied it early in the third period on Wideman's second goal of the season. The score was set up by Artturi Lehkonen, who made a no-look backhand pass from his knees in the left corner across to Wideman alone in the right circle, where he clanged in a wrist shot off the left post.
