Drake Batherson had two goals and an assist to lead the visiting Ottawa Senators to a 4-0 win against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday afternoon.

Matt Murray made 23 saves in the 12th shutout of his NHL career and first since a 3-0 win against the Dallas Stars on Oct. 26, 2019, when he played for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Senators did not have a shutout this season.

Carey Price returned from a six-game absence because of a lower-body injury and made 11 saves for the Canadiens, who are fourth in the North Division, six points ahead of the fifth-place Calgary Flames.

Ottawa scored on its first shot of the game.

Batherson's shot from just above the right circle hit Canadiens defenseman Joel Edmundson up high. Batherson got the puck back and passed it into the high slot from below the goal line, where Artem Zub scored on a one-timer for a 1-0 lead at 3:03 of the first period.

Both teams combined for just eight shots on goal in the first period.

Batherson made it 2-0 at 13:12 of the second period.

Josh Norris intercepted a pass from Paul Byron in the offensive zone and passed the puck ahead to Brady Tkachuk. He fed Batherson, who scored between Price's pads.

Batherson scored again on a power play to make it 3-0 at 15:26 of the third period. Batherson has a team-leading 15 goals on the season, one more than Tkachuk and Connor Brown.

Nikita Zaitsev scored 19 seconds later to make it 4-0.

The Senators had a recent top draft pick make his NHL debut for the second straight game on Saturday.

Shane Pinto, the first pick in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft, assisted on Zaitsev's goal for his first NHL point.

Jacob Bernard-Docker, the 26th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, made his NHL debut in a 3-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday.

Bernard-Docker and Pinto were teammates at the University of North Dakota the past two seasons.
