Philipp Grubauer stopped 24 shots, Joonas Donskoi had two goals and the Colorado Avalanche beat the Arizona Coyotes 5-1 on Monday night in Glendale Ariz.
Mikko Rantanen, Nazem Kadri and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare also scored goals while Tyson Jost and Valeri Nichushkin had two assists each for Colorado, which has won seven straight.
Grubauer got his career-high 19th victory of the season in the 200th NHL game of his career.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored and Antti Raanta had 30 saves for the Coyotes, who lost for the sixth time in their past seven games (1-4-2).
Colorado put 97 shots on goal in its previous two games but had just eight in the first period Monday. Despite having fewer opportunities, the Avalanche made two of them count.
The first goal came when Matt Calvert got the puck from J.T. Compher down low and then sent a backhand pass to the slot, where Bellemare one-timed it past Raanta at 14:22. The tally was Bellemare's third of the season.
It didn't take long for Colorado to strike again. Gabriel Landeskog picked up the puck in the defensive end and got it to Nathan MacKinnon. The center slid it to Rantanen in the neutral zone, and Rantanen drove to the left circle and then put a snap shot over Raanta's left shoulder at 15:28.
It was Rantanen's 18th goal of the season and his fifth in the past four games.
The score stayed 2-0 into the second period, when the Avalanche started to put more pressure on Arizona. Colorado put 21 shots on Raanta in the period and got another midway through to pad its lead.
Andre Burakovsky had the puck near the top of the zone, glided to the right and sent a shot to the front of the net where Kadri deflected it by Raanta at 11:44. It was his 10th of the season.
Larsson scored his first goal of the season at 16:19 of the third to spoil Grubauer's shutout bid. Donskoi scored an empty-net goal at 17:28 and another one at 19:49 to give him 10 goals this season.
