Oilers 4, Maple Leafs 1: Benoit Pouliot scored twice in the first period and Jordan Eberle collected a power-play goal and two assists as host Edmonton snapped a seven-game winless skid (0-5-2).

Anton Lander also tallied on the power play for the Oilers, who converted on 2-of-6 opportunities with the man advantage to improve to 10-for-23 in their last five contests. Playing in his 250th career game, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins notched two assists for the third straight outing and Ben Scrivens turned aside 28 shots as Edmonton ended a six-game skid to Toronto.

James van Riemsdyk scored a power-play goal for the spiraling Maple Leafs, who were outscored 14-5 during their winless three-game road trip and fell to 1-18-2 in their last 21 contests away from home. Jonathan Bernier yielded three goals on four shots before being relieved by James Reimer, who finished with 27 saves.

Edmonton didn't waste any time jumping on Toronto, as Pouliot's shot from the left circle deflected off the stick of defenseman Eric Brewer and past Bernier 53 seconds into the contest. Eberle scored from the slot at 7:16 and Pouliot unleashed a blast from above the left circle to chase Bernier 52 seconds later.

The Oilers continued the onslaught as Lander converted a cross-crease feed for his fourth power-play goal of the season at 10:59 before van Riemsdyk tipped home Edmonton native Dion Phaneuf's shot from the point 2 1/2 minutes later. Scrivens kept Toronto at bay the rest of the way, stopping 21 shots over the final 40 minutes.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pouliot has scored 16 goals this season, matching his career-best output from 2011-12 while with Boston. ... Eberle has recorded three goals and five assists during his four-game point streak. ... Toronto C Nazek Kadri clipped LW Matt Fraser during the third period, resulting in a two-minute illegal check to the head penalty. Fraser needed assistance in being helped off the ice.
