Wild 4, Canadiens 3: Jason Pominville scored his second goal of the night with 5:28 remaining in the third period to snap a tie and give host Minnesota its fourth win in five games.

Justin Fontaine and Nino Niederreiter also tallied while Mikael Granlund and defenseman Keith Ballard each notched two assists for the Wild, who are 1-1-0 on their four-game homestand. Josh Harding turned aside 28 shots.

P.K. Subban recorded a goal and an assist while fellow blue-liner Andrei Markov set up three scores for the Canadiens, who had their four-game road winning streak snapped. Brendan Gallagher and captain Brian Gionta also scored while Carey Price made 21 saves.

Pominville, who also had an assist, extended his goal-scoring streak to three games in the second period before giving Minnesota the lead for good in the third. Ballard unleashed a shot from the right point that found its way to Pominville, who beat Price from alone on the left side to complete his second two-goal performance in three contests.

Fontaine and Gallagher traded goals 25 seconds apart early in the first period before Pominville converted a breakaway chance at 8:41 of the second to give Minnesota a 2-1 edge. Niederreiter chipped a pass from Granlund under the crossbar 4:02 into the third to double the lead, but Subban and Gionta tallied 3:01 apart midway through the session to forge a 3-3 tie.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Fontaine's goal 5:45 into the contest ended Montreal's bid for a third consecutive road shutout. The club has not accomplished the feat since posting five straight blankings away from home in 1928. ... Ballard (head) and C Charlie Coyle (knee) returned to Minnesota's lineup from injuries, while RW George Parros (concussion) did the same for the Canadiens. ... Montreal allowed more than two goals for the first time in five games.
