Kings 3, Blues 2 (OT): Defenseman Slava Voynov scored eight minutes into overtime as visiting Los Angeles claimed a 3-2 lead in its Western Conference first-round series against fourth-seeded St. Louis.

Justin Williams carried the puck down the left wing during a 3-on-2 rush and dished it to Anze Kopitar, who quickly fed an open Voynov. The blue-liner fired the puck between Brian Elliott's pads from the right faceoff circle for his second game-winning goal of the series.

Jeff Carter scored twice, Mike Richards recorded two assists for the second straight game and Jonathan Quick made 34 saves for the fifth-seeded Kings, who host Game 6 on Friday with the chance to close out the series. The reigning Stanley Cup champions ended their eight-game road winless streak, posting their first victory away from home since March 31 at Dallas.

Alex Steen and defenseman Alex Pietrangelo tallied while Elliott turned aside 22 shots for St. Louis, which had its eight-game home winning streak snapped.

Carter opened the scoring 14 seconds into the second period by burying a rebound on the doorstep and Steen scored his third goal of the series at 6:46 to forge a tie. Carter converted a power-play opportunity at the 54-second mark of the third session to give Los Angeles a 2-1 lead, but Pietrangelo beat a screened Quick with 44.1 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.
