Defensemen Joe Corvo and Bobby Sanguinetti scored in the first period and Riley Nash added one in the third for Carolina, which lost its eighth straight home game. The Hurricanes have one win in their last 14 contests (1-12-1) and have lost six in a row overall.

Nash flipped a rebound past Fleury on his backhand from the slot two minutes into the third period to give Carolina a 3-2 lead. Bennett’s backhand shot from in close deflected off Hurricanes defenseman Jamie McBain to tie the game and Malkin poked a rebound from Jarome Iginla's shot past Justin Peters (28 saves) on the next rush.

Morrow capitalized on a Carolina turnover caused by former Hurricane Jussi Jokinen with 6:11 remaining in the first period, flicking a shot from the slot over Peters’ blocker while falling to his knees. The former Dallas Stars captain had not scored in 12 games.
